We emphasize self-care as prevention. Care defense, self-defense, but more.We understand the impact of trauma and violence on people and communities.

We understand that ending violence or abuse means addressing, over time, the complex interplay between individual, relationship, community, institution, and societal influences. These influences include the media, social media and the internet as well as unique, societal and cultural influences. Our Approach

Step 1: We collaborate and share information with communities to identify gaps in service

Congrats and thanks to all the facilitators who assisted with the ground fighting class at Friendly House. The participants left feeling empowered to defend themselves on the ground. My favorite quote from our reflection circle was from our youngest participant: "When I was on the ground, I felt like I could do anything."

Honoring the great Dr. Martin Luther King and his work to end racial and economic inequity. You are remembered always, along with the many others who worked beside you. Let's continue his legacy by taking action: support a black-owned business, participate in a service or event or donate to a black organization.
