18 months ago, two things came into the world just a few days apart - my son Jett, and Woodland Wonderland. 🌿 He was with me the whole time, curled up in my belly while I drew every leaf, every tree, every little woodland corner. This book holds a special place in my heart, not just because I live surrounded by the woods here in Portland, but because I never made it alone. There's something magical about a book inspired by the nature and woods around me being made alongside a little soul who'd grow up to run through those same trees. 🍂✨

Always going to keep our childlike whimsy over here, no matter the state of the world. 🎨 Art has always been my favorite form of protest. ♥️

As I continue to pick up the dead leaves from last fall in the garden, I can't help but imagine how beautiful it will be again soon and I look forward to that. Winter is such a nice respite from the busyness of life and a time for rest. But I can't help but linger on memories of the warm, green, flourishing secret garden of ours! As a girl, my favorite movie was The Secret Garden, and I made it my mission in life to find that some day. Feeling so grateful to have a wild space for growth, buds, bees, bugs, edibles, and my little explorers to enjoy! (except yellow jackets.... they can suck it 😂)

This year went by incredibly fast, as they always do. But even more so seeing my youngest grow so quickly and experiencing sooo many firsts with him! Feeling extra nostalgic this time of year, and grateful for so much fullness.

Im already dreaming of what's to come next year, and getting back to painting again after finishing up a big project (more to come on that! 🤩).

Happy Halloween! This year I dressed up as a veiled lady mushroom, aka stinkhorn. Scroll to see a real one! The hat is paper mache from found materials, modeling clay, and the fabric is Goodwill.

I always look forward to this time of year, because it is the most creative for me! 🌟
