If you’re over 40, get a DEXA scan so you can take an informed approach to bone health.
Information is power.

If you have osteopenia or want to take preventative measures to combat bone loss, do the following:

💚 Impact Exercise (like jumping, brisk walking, or tennis)
- Stimulates bone formation: When you land from an impact, the force on your bones triggers your body to build new bone tissue.
- Improves bone density: High-impact, weight-bearing activities increase bone mineral density-especially in the hips and spine.
- Enhances balance and coordination: Reducing the risk of falls, which is a major cause of fractures in older adults.

🤍 Lifting Heavy (Strength Training)
- Mechanical stress builds strength: Muscles pull on bones during resistance training, which signals bones to grow denser and stronger.

💚 HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy)
- Replaces lost estrogen: Estrogen plays a major role in maintaining bone density. Atter menopause, declining estrogen accelerates bone loss.
- Prevents osteoporosis: HRT helps slow or even reverse bone loss in postmenopausal women, reducing fracture risk.
- Supports muscle and joint health: Balanced hormones help maintain muscle mass and joint lubrication-important for staying active.

🤍 Vitamins & Minerals (especially D, K2, and magnesium)
- Calcium: The main mineral in bone; provides structural strength.
- Vitamin D: Helps absorb calcium from food and regulates bone metabolism.
- Vitamin K2: Directs calcium into bones (and keeps it out of arteries).
- Magnesium: Vital for converting vitamin D into its active form and forming bone matrix.

The 5 AM Club told you to earn your morning.

Your nervous system disagrees.

At BioLounge, we’re seeing it in the labs every week — clients running on 5 hours of sleep and 3 cups of coffee, wondering why their cortisol is wrecked, their cravings are out of control, and their “productivity” is actually just adrenaline in a trench coat.

Here’s the shift we’re coaching in 2026: Recovery is the bio hack.

That means:
✅ Protecting 7-9 hours of actual sleep (not just time in bed)

✅ A protein-rich breakfast instead of coffee on an empty stomach

✅ A digital sunset — screens off before your body needs to start winding down

✅ Letting your nervous system regulate before you ask it to perform

Hustle culture optimized our calendars, but it’s not doing our health any favors.

Ready to find out what’s actually going on with your sleep, hormones, and energy? Our functional labs panel is a great place to start. Give us a call: 971.770.1655.

Over a two- to three-year period of time. Progressively worsening.

➡️ Lab results revealed
- Low ferritin of 23
- Elevated hemoglobin A1c of 5.8
- Elevated c reactive protein of 3.4
- Low protein levels of 6.1

We also ran peptide-level food sensitivity testing and found extremely high sensitivity to wheat, soy, and dairy.

We adapted her diet to lower average blood sugar, using a continuous glucose monitor to adjust with a personalized nutrition plan.

✅ She went gluten-free, reduced grains, removed soy and dairy, and reintroduced lean animal proteins including organic chicken and wild fish.

She received two iron infusions and utilized fish oil, turmeric, a high-quality multivitamin and vitamin D, along with magnesium glycinate before bed.

✨ Within four weeks, she was free of muscle pain and had stabilized her blood sugar.

🤍 Over a three month period of time, she lost 15 pounds, maintained 7 hours of sleep a night, and was back to her normal healthy, active self.

Don’t normalize pain. Don’t accept unexplained weight gain. Don’t chalk symptoms of underlying issues up to just getting older.

We can help you find answers. Give us a call: 971.770.1655.

Mouth breathing. Snoring. Airway dysfunction. They’re not quirks — they’re warning signs. 🚫

Here’s what’s actually happening: when your airway is restricted — whether from mouth breathing, poor tongue posture, or structural issues — your body has to work harder to get oxygen, especially at night. That struggle doesn’t stay contained to your sleep. It ripples through your entire system.

Here’s the research-backed connection:

🔹 Blood pressure & heart health — Repeated drops in oxygen force your cardiovascular system to work overtime, which is linked to higher rates of hypertension and long-term cardiovascular strain.

🔹 Blood sugar & diabetes risk — Disrupted, fragmented sleep affects how your body regulates insulin and glucose, which is associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes over time.

🔹 Weight & metabolism — Poor sleep quality disrupts the hormones that control hunger and fullness (ghrelin and leptin), making weight management harder — independent of diet alone.

🔹 Cognitive function — Oxygen deprivation during sleep, even mild or undiagnosed, has been linked to problems with memory, focus, and long-term cognitive decline.

The tricky part? Many of these symptoms — snoring, waking up tired, mouth breathing — get written off as normal or minor. But they’re often signals of an underlying airway issue that compounds quietly over years.

This isn’t about fear — it’s about awareness. The earlier airway dysfunction is identified, the earlier it can be addressed.

🧠 Low estrogen doesn’t just mean hot flashes and mood swings — it’s linked to a real increase in cognitive decline risk.

Brain fog, memory lapses, trouble focusing? For a lot of women, it’s not “just stress.” It’s hormones.

For decades, the conversation around estrogen got stuck on one thing: cancer risk.

But newer research paints a more nuanced picture, and if you’re only hearing the cancer headline, you’re missing the rest of the story — including what estrogen does for your brain, bones, heart, and long-term quality of life.

At BioLounge Functional Medicine, we believe you deserve the full picture, not just the scary part.

Hormone health is complicated, personal, and worth a real conversation and data — not a one-size-fits-all answer.

Your gut makes a molecule that literally tells your brain ‘you’re safe.’ It’s called butyrate — and most people aren’t making enough of it.

Here’s how to boost it:

➡️ Eat more fiber — onions, leeks, asparagus, oats, legumes, flaxseed, and cooled potatoes or rice

➡️ Add polyphenols + omega-3s — olive oil, berries, green tea, wild salmon

➡️ Manage stress — slow exhales, time outside, real rest

➡️ Cut back on processed foods and alcohol

➡️ Move your body regularly

Small, consistent changes here can mean sharper focus, steadier energy, and real emotional resilience.

Want to know if your gut is actually making enough butyrate?  We can tell you. At BioLounge, we use the comprehensive GI Effects stool test to create personalized gut-healing plans tailored to your microbiome. Link in bio or call (971) 770-1655.

If you’re foggy, forgetful, or just not “sharp” anymore — here are the 3 things we check first, every single time.

Brain fog isn’t just “getting older” or “being tired.” It’s a signal — that needs further investigation.

1️⃣ Your nutrient levels.
Low energy and brain fog are two of the most common complaints we hear — especially from women 30-60. Iron deficiency alone can leave your cells starved for oxygen, and it’s often missed on a standard blood panel. Sometimes it really is this fixable.

2️⃣ Your hormones — but not in isolation. Fatigue, poor sleep, and brain fog get blamed on hormones constantly. But hormones are rarely the whole story. We look at why they’re imbalanced in the first place, not just replace and hope.

3️⃣ What’s happening years before symptoms show up. Cognitive decline doesn’t start the day you notice it. Changes in the brain can be underway for years before brain fog becomes obvious — which is exactly why testing matters more than guessing.

✅ The pattern here? Brain fog is a downstream symptom, not a diagnosis on its own. Find the upstream cause, and clarity comes back. 💡

Most “annual physicals” today are a blood pressure check, a stethoscope, and a rushed goodbye. But some of the earliest signs of disease don’t show up in a lab test — they show up in your body, if someone actually takes the time to look…

At BioLounge, our comprehensive physical exam goes deeper. We’re checking things like:

🩺 Orthostatic blood pressure (hello, brain fog + dizziness clues)

📏 Waist circumference + body composition (way more telling than BMI)

🦷 Oral health as a window into inflammation + autoimmune disease

💪 Grip strength + gait as predictors of long-term longevity

🫀 Circulation, thyroid, and even early signs of sleep apnea

None of this replaces advanced diagnostics — it complements them. Because prevention isn’t just about catching disease. It’s about catching it while it’s still reversible.
