Two years ago, we gathered to celebrate the future of Myrtlewood Way — a new community of 20 homes in Gresham. Today, that future is becoming reality 💙

The first homeowners are on track to start moving in next month!

Looking back is a reminder that building affordable housing takes time, partnership, and perseverance. What began as a shared vision is now becoming a place where families can put down roots.

Thank you to the volunteers, donors, public partners, community members, and advocates who helped make this milestone possible. Because of your support, more families will soon have a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home.

This repair may look small, but it made a life-changing difference.

A 77-year-old homeowner was at risk of eviction because the warped siding on her manufactured home no longer met park management requirements.

Our Home Repair team removed the damaged siding, repaired the wall, installed durable new fiber cement siding, and painted everything to match the existing house colors.

Now it looks like new, and the homeowner can remain safely in the place she loves 🩵

Our friends at Columbia Sportswear rolled up their sleeves and spent a productive day at West Lake Grove! They learned how to use the chop saw and finish nailers to install door casing on several homes.

Every volunteer helps build more than homes. Through Pope Leo Village, people of all faiths, identities, and generations are coming together to build homes, community, and hope.

Surrounded by flowers, it's easy to imagine calling 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗡𝗲𝘀𝘁 home. Located in Portland's Cully neighborhood, this future community will include 16 permanently affordable homes, designed to be solar-powered and net-zero.

We also visited 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲, our nearly complete community in Lake Oswego, where future homeowners will soon begin their next chapter.

Seeing both sites firsthand offered an opportunity to share how state investments through 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗧 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 help families build equity, put down roots, and create lasting stability.

Alexander's Jeep was a gift from his stepmom, who knew he and his wife were avid skiers tired of putting chains on a Honda Civic.

"I love this Jeep. We've had so many good memories, the three of us."

For 16 years, Alexander handled the maintenance himself — oil changes, roadside fixes, all of it. "She has never ever left us stranded." That includes a road trip at 25 years old, Portland, Oregon to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, with the whole crew.

When it was time to pass her on, Alexander had a way of looking at it. He'd always wanted to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity but hadn't gotten there yet. "I like to think that all the time I spent on the maintenance is now kind of my way of giving back."

We think so too.

His donation goes directly to Habitat for Humanity Portland Region's work building and repairing homes right here in our community. One Jeep. 16 years of memories. One way of giving back — that's just getting started.
