I have barely scratched the surface of the editing process from All Things Go - but here’s a shot of Josh Tillman through the downpour that began the moment they launched into “I Love You, Honeybear.”

ALL THINGS GO!! You were absolutely incredible. What an experience. I cannot WAIT to share the shots I got from the 32(!!!) acts I saw this weekend. See you next year? Maybe with less rain?

Lido Pimienta (Lido Pimienta) | Wonder Ballroom | 9/16/26

Seven years ago, at Pickathon, I stumbled into the Lucky Barn for a rare change to sit down and listen to a performance instead of roasting in the sun. Inside, I discovered Lido Pimienta, launching me into a profound love of the Canadian-Colombian singer/producer, a love made far worse with the release of her 10/10 record Miss Colombia.

Despite that love, thanks to COVID and double-bookings and life itself, it has taken me seven years to see Pimienta again. Her new album, Caribenya, was the perfect chance to see her again. It couldn’t have been more worth the wait. She’s evolved greatly as a performer since I last saw her, stalking the stage with rap swagger and pure charisma, bedecked in fresh Nikes (thanks to a missing suitcase) and an oversized teeshirt over her dress. She posed with her record, she shook her ass in my face, she je**ed off the mic onto her own face. It was beautifully unhinged.

Unsurprisingly, all of the songs from her catalog sounded outstanding, especially the tracks from Caribenya, which really pop in a live setting. Even the songs from La Belleza, which I’d always found the tiniest bit stuffy, felt like they took on new life onstage at the Wonder Ballroom. She also played all of the Miss Colombia tracks I REALLY, REALLY wanted to hear, which was no small blessing (but if she’d played them all, that would have been great too!)

If I can help it, I’m never going to let so many years go by without paying respects to one of the best in the game. You shouldn’t miss her, either.

BUMBERSHOOT DAY 2 | Seattle Center | 9/6/26

Day 2 of Bumbershoot Arts & Music Festival - Seattle was a personal cl*******ck, bogged down by car troubles and missing jumper cables. I almost bagged the whole day, but a voice in my head kept ringing: “HOLLY, DO NOT SKIP DE LA SOUL.” The day turned out fu***ng awesome once the troubles ended, and I think these pics turned out killer!

I have been putting it off way too bad, but here’s some kool shots I got at Bumbershoot Arts & Music Festival - Seattle last weekend!! More soon!!

Blood Orange (Blood Orange) at Edgefield Concerts | 8/4/26

The music of Blood Orange is simply perfect for the still-warm evenings of late summer, but as it turns out, those same vibes are perfect for a damp and chilly false autumn. While some people stubbornly rocked the cute, slutty outfits they’d picked out before the forecast turned rainy, it was kind of fun to see an Edgefield full of raincoats and cute beanies, eagerly awaiting the songs of Essex Honey and beyond.

We only got 75 minutes from Dec Hynes and his band, but what a glorious 75 minutes it was. Every corner of the Blorange oeuvre got touched on, from Cupid Deluxe deep cut “Uncle ACE” to a trio of cuts from 2018’s Negro Swan, and why not devote a few minutes to Hynes giving us a solo cello rendition of Björk’s “All Is Full of Love” for good measure? I missed out on seeing Hynes at Kilby Block Party earlier this year, on a different rainy day in a different state, but this was a great way to make up for lost time.

This isn’t the atmosphere I’d hoped for at a Labor Day Weekend Blood Orange show, but while good music fits into the nooks and crannies of our lives, great music has the power to bend reality around itself, making even the mud and the chill of a damp evening well below 60° feel like the sunshine is just around the corner.

My New Band Believe (My New Band Believe) at Polaris Hall | 8/31/26

My New Band Believe is, frankly, one of the worst band names I’ve heard in years, but I’ll overlook that because they’re totally dynamite live. Rising from the ashes of Black Midi, guitarist and singer Cameron Picton is shockingly adept at captivating a room with his stern demeanor and borderline Penningtonian delivery. Watching the quintet cram onto the Polaris Hall stage to play songs from their self-titled debut, as well as a handful of new, formally unnamed tracks, was a total delight.

My favorite was one dubbed my fans as “I’m Not Laughing Now,” among the best they played, which was dedicated to all of the le****ns in the audience. I’d have side-eyed it, if Picton hadn’t looked and been dressed like the autistic butch of my dreams. My other favorite song was nearly 20 minutes long - what le***an doesn’t love seeing something that could have been quick stretched on way, way longer than expected?

MNBB are on tour for just a few more dates - go see them if you have the chance!

Angine de Poitrine (Angine De Poitrine) | KEXP BBQ | 8/22/26

It’s rare for a band with such a strong, inescapable gimmick to be totally worth the hype, but the papier-mâché aliens known as Angine de Poitrine are very worth the hype. The fact that the KEXP BBQ booked these guys is a testament to the tastes of the station, perceptive enough to know SOMETHING very interesting is going on here. In fact, as we heard it, the booking process began as the band were finishing the KEXP session that put Khn and Klek de Poitrine on the map. The end result was a 5:30 set that ended after 45 minutes, so the stage could set up for Ty Segall. Who in the world decided to keep AdP relegated to an opener set? Bananas choice.

All of this is it say, watching them on a small stage already feels ludicrous. Actually watching them perform makes it impossible to miss just how musically talented they are. This is math rock for weirdos and freaks, microtonal sounds from the way, way out. I don’t know how they do it, but bless them for existing, especially in direct August sunlight. Catch them, somehow, the moment you get the chance.

Courtney Barnett (Courtney Barnett) at Pioneer Courthouse Square | 8/19/26

Early on in her career, I never really thought Courtney Barnett would catch on like she has. I love being wrong, though, and the deadpan song-talk shredder taking over Pioneer Square was the best way to experience being proven wrong by a set. This was a fantastic, career-spanning set targeted at melancholy brunettes and sad women, plus every single gay person with an affinity for Aussie accents. I loved every second of it.
