Back in 2002 when I started my own jewelry line I was perfectly happy turning my apartment kitchen into a jewelry studio and applying to craft shows with actual slides. Lol. Anyone remember the knuckle buster credit card imprint slips and 🤞when you got home that the cards actually had money on them?!? Yikes. Some things have changed for better some things not so much. This post shows a progression backwards to the early days, black bean jewelry tables I crafted myself(I’ve since given up woodworking-too much measuring!), making my own jewelry catalog(VERY expensive-do not recommend), the big break I thought I got by being in the Sundance Catalog(not so much), and several store locations leading to this one in the Old Port. It’s been a wild ride with plenty of highs and lows and I’m still here, creating jewelry and things and riding the wave. Thanks to everyone for all of your support!

New coastal pottery, plenty of fish, and a stack of my own handmade jewelry. I love seeing all these textures, colors and pieces come together. -it’s feeling more and more like the shop I’ve always imagined. Made, collected and chosen with care here in Portland, Maine🐟🌊

The bangles sold out yesterday-so today I’m back at the bench soldering, hammering and finishing the stack by hand-one at a time✨

A few new things I’m loving around the shop today🧡A new fish tee color, a new upcycled Free People jumper, new local honey from Fresh Pickens. Clothes to wear, honey to take home-that feels pretty good to me. ✨

Making more of my inventory lately-printing, painting, sewing, block printing, hand dyeing and figuring it out as I go. There’s something really satifying about watching a blank piece become something that feels very JBD. Made slowly, made by hand. Made in Portland, Maine

Fall is starting to make an appearance and we’re ready for it. New sweaters, jackets denim and easy layers. Beautiful colors, textures and pieces you’ll actually wear.

Still making jewelry🩵 These three rings found their new homes this week, and I’m so happy to see them out in the world. Every piece is made by hand in my Portland, Maine studio, using recycled metals and beautiful ethically sourced stones. I love making the things that became your pieces, worn every day, collected over time, and eventually carrying a story of their own. A few more pieces in the shop-I’m always making something new.

I went for it. I finished the one of a kind dress made from thrifted Free People overalls, thrifted denim and vintage shibori mudcloth. And honestly the dress is awesome and I want to keep it because it fits me like a glove. But…this is for the shop. One off-handmade. A little unexpected. And apparently, I’m making dresses now🤷🏻‍♀️👗
