Following nature into the unknown for meaning & transformation. Nonprofit educational institute offering trainings online & in person The Process Work Institute is a non-profit educational institute devoted to research and training in Process-oriented Psychology, also known as Process Work. It is one of many centers worldwide dedicated to furthering our understanding of the fundamental problems facing individuals and groups today, using the methods and spirit of inquiry found in Process Work. The Process Work Institute continues the tradition of Process Work training and research begun in 1982 with the founding of the Research Society for Process-oriented Psychology in Zurich, Switzerland by Arnold Mindell and his associates. In 1989, the Process Work Center of Portland, later renamed the Process Work Institute, was incorporated in Oregon as a center for training and research in Process Work. It received authorization from the State of Oregon to offer a Master of Arts degree in Process Work in January, 1992. A second Master of Arts degree program in Conflict Facilitation and Organizational Change began in 2004. The Institute currently serves as a center for personal and professional growth, offering several degree and non-degree programs and courses in a wide variety of Process Work applications.

We experience this principle in terms of our own curiosity about ourselves!
The next time something in you catches your attention, a dream fragment or a feeling you can't place, you might follow it for a moment. That interest in yourself could be how the larger world gets to know itself.
When a dream stays with you into the afternoon, or you notice your hand moving before you decided to move it, there's a small pull to wonder what that was. Most of us brush it aside and get on with the day.
Processwork asks us to stay with that wondering a little longer. The curiosity you feel about yourself may be part of a much older curiosity, the world's own interest in becoming aware of itself, working its way through one person at a time :)

We are always more acutely aware of where we have low rank than where we have high rank. You can probably think of many situations where you felt like the abused, but few where you were the abuser. As Arnold Mindell says, the more rank you have, the less you know it's there.
What does it mean to bring this understanding into our world work and our relationships? Maybe something about being aware of our various ranks. Working with the spirits in the field. Taking feedback from others about our impact serious and tending to our own unconscious behavior. As Arnold Mindell says, "In warning others not to abuse power, we are heard best when we remain aware that our own use of power can be blind and addictive."
Many of us have a YUCK to marketing.
But if you have a project you want to bring to the world, and if you want it to financially sustainble for you, you probably feel the pressure to engage marketing in some way. There is a way to do marketing ethically. And, in fact, there is a way to do it that is in aignment with your ddepest self and your growth path.

"The origin of your thoughts, observations and dreams is happening right now, in the background of everyday consensus reality. As you become more lucid during the day, you can predict what you're going to think, dream, and do before you go to sleep at night.
Perhaps the only reason nighttime dreams sometimes seems so difficult to understand is that usually do not pay attention to tendencies, vague sensations, hunches, feelings, aches and pains. You notice the Dreaming, only when it gets to the point of unfolding, only when a body sensation already hurts. You probably pay attention to your ideas only when they're almost formulated. The more lucid you become, the more you will note your experiences before they reach the level where they can be clearly felt, thought about, and remembered.
The psychological reason for ignoring the Dreaming is that you learn to separate yourself from these elementary tendencies, sensations, preverbal feelings and thoughts. Thus today you tend to neglect and dissociate from whatever you cannot comprehend with your ordinary mind.
In other words, dreams are difficult to understand not because they're naturally mysterious, but because you've dissociated yourself from your their source. From our developing perspective of lucidity, dreams are the products of Dreaming, just as a tree is the result of a seed in the ground."

Most approaches treat triggers as something to manage, control, or overcome.
This workshop takes a different approach.
What if your trigger is carrying information?
What if the irritation, defensiveness, hurt, frustration, or strong emotional charge is pointing toward something important that wants your attention?
Together we'll explore how triggers show up in the body, how they shape our perceptions and reactions, and how awareness can help us move from automatic reaction toward greater choice, understanding, and perspective.
Because sometimes the thing that activates us most strongly is also the thing with the most to teach us.

We feel this fire everywhere right now. It's in our families, our institutions, our own nervous systems.
The question Processwork asks is how to stay with it, how to work with it. And what is it's message.
Staying with the trouble is hard. Every instinct says to look away, cool it down.
But fire that's ignored or suppressed spreads and scorches.
Fire that's met with awareness and skill can become warmth and light.
The thing a community gathers around.
At this time, as a human collective, we need more than ever to sit in the fire.
To stay in conflict long enough for it to resolve rather than turning away.
That means being present. Listening deeply, even to what we don't want to hear.
Something new can emerge from the space between opposite perspectives, but only if the diverse perspectives can withstand the heat long enough to stay in the room.
Do you want to enter more deeply into a conversation with the conscious universe?

Cultivate a state of lucid awareness and learn to draw the power and magic of dreaming into consensus reality.
This course is a deep dive into ways of cultivating a state of lucid awareness which will help you draw the power and magic of the dreaming into consensus reality – what Arnold Mindell called Dreaming While Awake. Together, we will experience ways to develop an ongoing and conscious conversation with our Big U - the Universe itself.
In the six modules we’ll discuss the dreaming as the oldest and most personal oracle, revisit the levels of dreaming and types of dreams, learn ways to embody and unfold dreams, understand why developing a symbolic attitude opens us to the language of the Cosmos, scan the current science around dreams and consciousness, explore how the Processwork dreaming model corresponds with other theoretical frameworks, and investigate concepts of the conscious universe through time.
In addition, there will be two group mentoring sessions to encourage participants to use the exercises

What shows up in an individual body or dream is never separate from what's happening in the larger field around them. Personal and collective aren't two different categories, they're the same process, seen at different scales.

Don't abandon your inner mystic...
This series is for you if:
🌀 You wish to go beyond dream interpretation into the heart of the eternal conversion between the individual and the cosmos.
🌀 You crave experiential learning that brings you into and out of deep altered states, allows you to embody archetypical energies, and moves you into your childhood dream to explore its larger mythological context
🌀 You seek second training practice to sit in the silence “between” worlds so that you can recognize and weave together multi-channel information strands into a pattern of coherence.
🌀 You are curious about what mainstream science has to say about altering brain and behavior patterns and how dreams are a key to unlocking this in novel ways.
🌀 You want to understand more about the timeless frameworks of the Shamanism, alchemy, myth, and story to investigate the collective dimension of consciousness.
🌀 You work with individuals who have faced trauma and want to understand how dreams can be used to identify when and how people might be ready to explore these difficult experiences.
🌀 You are interested in understanding how science, the mainstream and upstream communities have framed the idea of a conscious universe in the past, how it is emerging now and how the Processwork paradigm intersects with the now.
🌀 You want to explore, have fun, and internalize complex concepts in an open learning ecosystem.
