What a party to close out the 2026 Sunday Parkways season, presented by Kaiser Permanente!

Thank you to the estimated 7,000 participants who joined us along the route, and the thousands more who took part at activation spaces and on our bike buses, to celebrate the businesses, cultural destinations, and public spaces that make Downtown Portland so special. The rainy weather could not dampen our spirits!

Participants spent the day exploring Downtown, including two new public plazas — Darcelle XV Plaza and the new Cultural District Plaza — as well as many participating businesses and hotels along SW Broadway. The car-free streets were filled with smiles, music, and good vibes. There was so much to see, do, and experience along the route

One of our favorite sights was seeing so many people hop on our guided bike bus rides and riding into Downtown together. There’s something so special about seeing neighbors and friends biking together.

Celebrate the final Sunday Parkways of the year, presented by Kaiser Permanente

Join the Portland Bureau of Transportation and Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund (PCEF) in Downtown Portland this Sunday, Sept. 13, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for 2.3 miles of car-free streets filled with live entertainment, free activities, vendor marketplaces, local business activations, and some of Downtown’s most exciting public spaces.

Walk, bike, roll, shop, and explore along the event route showcasing The Cart Blocks, Darcelle XV Plaza, Director Park, Main Street Plaza, Cultural District Plaza, PSU Park Blocks, Lovejoy Fountain Park, Pettygrove Park, and Pioneer Courthouse Square.

Make a weekend out of it with Portland Staycation! Portland Staycation runs Sept. 11–13 with special hotel offers, dining, entertainment, and other ways to play tourist in your own city.

Skip the parking and I-5 traffic! Join one of seven guided Sunday Parkways Bike Bus routes traveling to and from the event. Look for the Frog, Snail, Slug, Sloth, Manatee, Chameleon, and Turtle routes! Look at slide 3 for the routes!

Planning to drive? Streets along the route will be closed to vehicle traffic from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. People traveling to homes and businesses along the route will still be able to access their destinations with assistance from event volunteers and traffic flaggers. If possible, please plan ahead and avoid driving in the area during the event.

Parking reminder: Parking along the event route is prohibited beginning at 6 a.m. this Sunday. Vehicles parked in signed no-parking areas will receive an $85 citation, plus towing and storage fees.

Riding TriMet? Seven bus lines will be detoured during the event. Check TriMet for the latest route and travel information.

Downtown Portland Sunday Parkways is this Sunday, Sept. 13, and we’re excited to announce our collaboration with A Simple Machine!

Mark Hoffman’s debut film is a coming-of-age story that centers on biking and was filmed right here in Portland.

🚲 Skip the parking and ride together to Downtown Sunday Parkways presented by Kaiser Permanente!

On Sunday, Sept. 13, join your neighbors on one of seven guided Bike Bus routes from neighborhoods across Portland to Downtown Sunday Parkways.

In partnership with Mike Bennett Studios, each route has its own illustrated safety critter to guide the way: Frog, Snail, Slug, Sloth, Manatee, Chameleon, and Turtle.

Volunteer ride leaders will guide the group on inbound rides to Downtown Sunday Parkways and outbound rides from the event, so you can enjoy the day and make the trip together.

Bike Bus routes and ride times are subject to change based on volunteer availability.

Don't miss our last bike fair of the season in SW Portland, on Thursday, Sept. 3 from 3-5:30 p.m. at Multnomah Arts Center!

All activities are free and for all-ages, including:
- Learn to ride lessons for kids and adults
- Bike skills course to practice safe riding
- Free Quick-fix Bike Repair to make sure your bike is rolling smoothly and safely
- Guided community ride: a low-stress 1-2 mile ride to practice biking on city streets
- Free helmet distribution and helmet fitting to make sure you're protected

Participants are encouraged to bring their own bikes. There will be bikes of various sizes available for children and adults to borrow for the Learn to Ride lessons.

This event is hosted in partnership with the Multnomah Arts Center and the Community Cycling Center. This event is made possible by Metro and the Federal Transit Administration.

Walk, Roll & Belong at Downtown Sunday Parkways presented by Kaiser Permanente!

In celebration of Welcoming Week 2026, the City of Portland’s Office of Community & Civic Life is teaming up with Downtown Sunday Parkways on Sunday, Sept. 13, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Explore 2.3 miles of car-free Downtown streets and stop by participating city and community booths at Pioneer Courthouse Square to learn about available resources and services, and participate in activities for a chance to win a bike!

This special collaboration celebrates this year’s Welcoming Week theme, “From Arrival to Belonging,” and creates a fun, accessible way for immigrant and refugee communities to connect with resources, build community, and enjoy Sunday Parkways together.
