When people say that they are home from war it doesn't always mean that they are free from its effects. This is especially true for toxic exposures such as Agent Orange for Vietnam Vets. Sometimes we bring the war back with us in ways we don't realize.

This is a great video showing the dedication ceremony of the Vietnam War Memorial on the Oregon State Capitol Grounds. The event was held on November 22, 2024 and caps a seven year long effort. Thanks to everyone who helped make this a reality.

Mark your calendars for the dedication ceremony for the Vietnam War Memorial on the Oregon State Capitol Grounds. The event will be on November 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the memorial site. It is at the corner of State and Cottage streets in Salem on the west side of the capitol building. A reception will also be held afterwards at the nearby Withnell Family YMCA.

At our membership meeting on August 8 Chapter 392 voted to become the major sponsor of a sculpture entitled "A Soldier's Return" to be be installed at the Vietnam War Memorial in Salem. This sculpture, being created by Portland artist Libby Carruth, will be a signature piece of artwork at the memorial and depicts how so many of us felt on our return home – confused, conflicted, in pain and sometimes anger. This will be one of our legacy projects, and we can’t think of anything that would be more fitting as a legacy than a sculpture that expresses those feelings.

Please Join us in Honoring Vietnam Veterans Today, Vietnam War Veterans Day

Today is a fitting choice for a day honoring Vietnam veterans. It was chosen to be observed in perpetuity as March 29, 1973 was the day United States Military Assistance Command, Vietnam was disestablished and also the day the last U.S. combat troops departed Vietnam. VVA honors all veterans who served during the Vietnam War era, and their families. They are the embodiment of character and courage.
