Sugar, after an acupuncture treatment- so relaxed!

As the wild grasses in our surrounding area grow tall and go to seed, we are acutely aware of the impact to our pets. Grass awns are the bristly, barbed tail attached to the seed of some types of wild grasses (such as cheatgrass, foxtail, or barley grass). The awns are often referred to as ‘foxtails', which can release and attach to fur, sticking to paws where they can burrow under the skin between toes. They can also find their way into eyes, nostrils, and ears, sometimes causing immediate distress and discomfort.

Prevention is key. Try to avoid overgrown areas with mature grass seeds. If your pet has been through a questionable area, look and feel for loose grass awns, paying extra attention to to armpits, groin, ears, and between toes to remove any before they have a chance to burrow.

Great news! A California condor flew into Oregon last month, becoming the first wild condor to fly in our state in over 120 years.

Condor B9 was released into the wild last year by the Yurok Tribe. We’re honored to support their work in restoring these birds to their ancestral homeland. Good luck B9!

Leroy is benefiting from a unique form of acupuncture: Acupuncture implants. During a sedated procedure, small surgical grade titanium implants (ranging in size between 1 and 5mm) are placed into select acupuncture points to promote continuous acupuncture treatment. This is an advanced acupuncture technique that Dr. Andrea is now able to provide for her patients at Two Rivers.

This is particularly helpful for pets that don't love frequent trips to the clinic for regular acupuncture treatments. Leroy is an older cat and a tripod, which means that his joints definitely need some extra support!

Peanut is all grown up! Megan recreated his springtime photo shoot from 3 years ago. So cute!

Happy Chinese New Year!

It has become tradition that we welcome the Chinese New Year with the introduction of the lovely artwork of Jen Leber (former vet tech in the Two Rivers Vet family).

A big shout out to Jen because this makes the final of 12 animals of the Chinese New Year Zodiac that she has completed for us. (For those that know Jen, you know that is 12 acts of perfectionist-driven stress.)

She is lovely, Jen. Much gratitude for your talent and dedication for the past 12 YEARS.
