It’s been a crazy week.
Loss. Abundance. Friendship. Celebration. Creative waves. Humbling experiences.
A painting experiment in progress.
A loving memorial that I am honored to have participated in recreating.

A short shout out to two women mentors of mine, Maryjane Haake and the late Patti Pavlik.

MaryJane got funded by the state of Oregon to apprentice under Bert Grimm. To learn how to tattoo!
The only one that I know of to have ever pulled that off. I don’t think there is anyone else that can claim that accomplishment.
Maryjane is one of Portlands first female Tattooer’s. You should know who she is.
Though I am not a fan at all of the current tattoo school model. I do understand what MJ, other old timers and my teacher had in mind when they first came up with the concept and initiated its existence. It is in need of a much over due makeover for sure!
Anyway, during the nineties MJ ventured into adding piercing to her talents as well as joining forces with another pioneer at the time.
Patti Pavlik from Laguna Beach Tattoo in California.
These were the two women I knew at the forefront of cosmetic tattooing.
Making the way and setting high standards for that time. Much of which are still held up as a standard to this day.
They detoured from the typical tattoo producing imagery world. And took a gentle step forward to offer tattoo services of a different kind. Offering tattooing as Dermagraphics.
A name that helped potential clients get past the stigma of being “tattooed” and allowed them an ease of entry into working along side cosmetic surgeons. And other doctors of discipline.
They both created their own line of cosmetic pigments and went on to develop other products that no one seemed to think were needed. These women were ahead of the wave and ahead of the times. Grateful to both of them for making such bold steps so a young woman like me could make my way just a little bit easier.

Here’s a write up I found locally about MaryJane.
Enjoy.

Billy Tinney needs the tattoo community’s support. Please help with what you can. ✨

BILLY TINNEY NEEDS THE TATTOO COMMUNITIES HELP!!
Billy Tinney, Editor in Chief of Tattoo Magazine when printed tattoo magazines still existed, for those that don't know, was an itegral part of the reason tattoos are as popular as they are today. Billy was one of the ones who brought tattooing into the light, and helped it become more socially acceptable thru his photography in Tattoo Magazine. Billy helped kick off so many tattooists careers it's incredible. Starting with Easyriders Magazine as a photographer, then Tattoo Magazine, all the way to the top as Chief Editor till the end of the publication. Billy was a fixture at all the major tattoo events, capturing the moments, as well as the artwork from each one and then sharing them with the world thru the magazine. Many of us have been featured in or had photos of their work published, or even a shot of you tattooing. We all owe Billy a debt.
Billy, now 80, retired, has fallen on hard times, and needs our help. If you have a few bucks you can throw his way please do,
if you were ever a fan of Tattoo Magazine please do,
and if you can share this post please do. If Billy ever featured you in the Magazine, ya better, or be ashamed!!
So dig into yer pocket, crack open your Piggy Bank and throw a few bucks in, and we can all afford a little, (sacrifice yer lattes for a day), to help this man Tattooing owes so much to.

Super happy to be asked to help with this cover-up for Jason. It’s been a long while since anyone requested Robert Williams work much less a combo with Ed Roth, Kozik and Crumb. So tickled to get a start on this and work out the bugs. I love it when folks can include humor to their tattoos.
It had taken me a bit to figure out with my own collection. Then I got a stick dog and it was all over from there! lol.
Enjoy it. Live it fully. It is right now.
