Confluence is excited to announce a new 9-Month AmeriCorps position in partnership with OregonWalks and Depave for the upcoming service year! Apply now to serve as the Depave for Trees Coordinator to support a new, micro-depaving program model that will create greater access to green spaces along 82nd Avenue.

Confluence is now accepting Requests for Proposals from non-profit organizations, schools, and government agencies in the Portland, OR area who are interested in hosting a 6-month AmeriCorps member from February 3rd, 2027 - July 23rd, 2027!

Being a Project Partner is an excellent way to grow your organization's capacity while also getting the opportunity to mentor an emerging leader in the environmental field. The School Garden Outreach Coordinator will coordinate hands-on, nature based education for K-8th grade students and serve as the vital link between the school and the greater environmental community.

🎉 Congratulations to our 2025-26 Members! 🎉

Last Friday, our members celebrated the final day of their service term with a day focused around community, food, and recognition of all their hard work over the past 8 months. We are so proud of everything they have accomplished and look forward to seeing where they go next!

Last Thursday, Confluence members and staff got together for the final team meeting of the term!

July's meeting was planned and facilitated by our current member, Allie, who hosted everyone at the PCC Sylvania Learning Garden. They shared different techniques for environmental education, gave a tour of the garden, led the group in a cordage making workshop using natural materials, and taught some basics in animal tracking.

For lunch, we celebrated closing out the term with homemade pizza baked in the pizza oven located in the garden!

For June's team meeting the other week, current member Alexis led our cohort in a full day of learning at !

We identified native shrubs and trees, learned about the urban tree canopy in Portland, and had meaningful discussions about accessibility in nature spaces. In the afternoon, a volunteer from Hoyt Arboretum led us through a tree tour where we learned about deciduous trees and the history of the arboretum. What a wonderful way to spend the day!

Once a month Confluence members get together for a day-long adventure in personal and professional development. Team Meetings are planned and facilitated by an AmeriCorps member, giving them an opportunity to practice facilitation, planning, budgeting and education skills.
