Legs Malone turned 20 a couple of days ago, and I’ve been awash in memories. Thank you so much to everyone who wished me a happy birthday and who shared memories, photos and well wishes. You know how to make an ecdysiast feel loved! It turns out 20 years is a long time, and yet it feels like it was all just a few days ago…
Legs Malone was born on the hallowed stage at the Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club, a delightful boozy haunt in London’s East End. But first, my origin story.
On the morning of September 6, 2006, I woke up and read my horoscope as was my habit. There was a full moon eclipse that day, and my horoscope told me that any seeds I planted that day would bloom bigger than my wildest imagination.
Reader, it was right.
I had been taking burlesque classes for a couple of months prior and rehearsing in my bedroom practically every night, but I had yet to step on stage. I had met an amazing pal Torie at one of my first classes with the Ministry of Burlesque and we became fast friends.
On that fateful evening, Torie and I headed to BGWMC for a much-anticipated class with the legendary followed by an amateur showcase. We had each brought some costume pieces to play with, and showed up with bags of bits and bobs and (at least for me) giant grins plastered across my face. Class with Jo was amazing and after we had bumped and ground our way through class, Torie and I sat down to enjoy the show. That’s when I saw Lara Clifton going from table to table, and when she got to ours, I realized why: everyone but two people had dropped out of the showcase, and she needed dancers. She asked us and Torie immediately said no. I said no too, but after Lara went to the next table, Torie turned to me and asked,
“Do you want to get up there?”
I hesitated, and the shyly said, “Yes.”
She asked me what I needed, and I said pasties and a trench coat. The rest of the act I could figure out.

Tales from the $trip is coming to Maine!! Join Tales’ Peekaboo Pointe along with me Minnie Tonka Fem Appeal and special guests for an incredible night of storytelling at Portland’s own Belleflower Brewing Company 👠🍻
Tales from the $trip is a storytelling event, future podcast and oral history project, featuring true stories told by current and former st*****rs, s3x workers, and any adult industry professional. For too long our stories have been told for us in films, books and media. Tales’ mission is for those of us in the sxindustry to tell our stories the way we want them told. To amplify the voices of a community and an industry that are often spoken for and misrepresented. Our voices are powerful and our stories are vital to our visibility. If more people hear our authentic voices and true stories of our experiences we can help expand efforts to destigmatize sxwork and sworkers.

On the eve of my 20th anniversary doing this wild, wonderful art, I am struck by how many fellow benevolent weirdos I have met and how much I love them. This is a random selection of photos and in no way represents the totality of foxy souls I’ve romped and frolicked with both onstage and off. I love and miss all you freaks so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️
My apologies to the photographers whose names and tags I don’t have. I salute you all because without your fab images, I wouldn’t have much to show for it.
IG wouldn’t let me tag more than 20 people so I’ll tag everyone else in the comments ❤️
Burlesque family and friends, I love you.
Some ramblings as I walked out of the kickoff night of The Maine Stage . My goodness what a night. The cast was off the chain, ridiculously beautiful and talented and Mayo Street Arts is as always a warm and wonderful venue to house this incredible show! All applause to La Petite Mystique for making it all happen 🙏❤️ Shoutout to Luna Lee who walks past about halfway through 👋
Legs Malone turns 20 on Sunday and I’m super duper appreciating the wealth, connection, and soul-deep delight that burlesque has brought into my life. This art form holds a direct and profound connection to the divine and I bow at its sparkly feet ❤️🔥
Hooray for art, hooray for burlesque, and hooray for the vibrant and sizzlingly hot burlesque and drag community in Maine!!

This photo was taken September 19, 2008 from the (old) The Slipper Room stage, looking through the curtains toward the audience as I stepped out onto the go-go box for a little interstitial dancing. I was two years into my burlesque career, which was 18 years ago…
This Sunday, Legs Malone turns 20. I can vote, but I still can’t drink 😂
In honor of this major milestone, I’m going to be posting photos from the last 20 years on this here platform. It is overwhelming to think about 20 years gone by. I can’t imagine my life without this vital and brilliant art form. Burlesque introduced me to my people and fellow gorgeous weirdos who love nothing more than getting on stage and channeling their art no matter how bizarre, hilarious, poignant, or mind blowing it might be.
It is impossible to name every single person who has impacted me during this phenomenal glitter trail of a career, but I will do my best to celebrate, honor, and lift up the stunning souls that have helped me become more myself with each passing year.
On the day of the big 2-0, I’ll be at Official Insta for Geno’s Rock Club for Q***r Cinema Sundays where we will be watching The Big Johnson Film with q&a to follow with the director, my brilliant wife Lola RocknRolla. If you’re in Maine, come on out!
Many more photos to come.
Burlesque, I love you.
Photo taken by Ted d’Ottavio at The Slipper Room that was replaced by the much fancier Slipper Room that stands now, still on the corner of Orchard and Stanton streets.
I shot this in my backyard just for you 😘
Join me this Friday for The Maine Stage at Mayo Street Arts for the first night of this magical show!
Sunday, join me at Lola RocknRolla for Q***r Cinema Sundays at Official Insta for Geno’s Rock Club for Lola’s film The Big Johnson (now streaming on AppleTV and Prime!) with Q&A afterwards. Also, I have my 20th burlesque anniversary that night (?!) so come out and buy me a drink since I’m almost legal ;)
Last but definitely not least, mark your calendars and buy your tickets for Burlesque Beyond the Beach at Leavitt Theatre on October 10!! We’re back for our fourth season with brand new faces and hometown favorites. Grab your tickets now and I will see you beyond the beach!!
Burlesque is love and I am here for it!!

This is a love letter to my intrepid, inspirational, unbelievably hard working heartthrob of a wife .
Just over a year ago, her film The Big Johnson had its debut . It took her eight years of unfathomably hard work to bring this film to life. And now, one year after its debut, you can now watch it on AppleTV and Prime Video!!!!
The photos you see here document the steps along the way. From the sold out premiere in LA to its sold out NYC premiere with last spring, it has been the delight of a lifetime to be her arm candy and number one fan. I am so proud of you, I could cry, shout, dance, or just burst into an explosion of glitter and shrieks of delight as I behold the fruits of your hard work bringing Dean to the world. I love you to the planet you came from and back again 🪐👽🏳️🌈❤️ Thank you for this film. It is the light we need more than ever right now.
Go watch The Big Johnson and tell everyone you know about it!!!! Dean Johnson forever!! 🏳️🌈🍆❤️
