My Voice Music

More photos from the MVM & Ascending Flow Block Party and the unveiling of our new community mural and BUS-A-Flow! The full album is available on our page.

At My Voice Music, collaboration and community are at the heart of everything we do. Partnering with like-minded nonprofits is both beautiful and necessary—when we come together, we lift one another up and create an even greater impact for the young people we serve.

Huge gratitude to our buildingmates and program partners , , mural artists and , and for helping bring our community’s vision to life—and to our incredible building owners for saying “YES!” to a huge mural.

Every youth performance at the block party was inspiring. We loved seeing so many genres, cultures and generations come together in one place. Talilo—that protest song at the end had us FIRED UP!

Much love to all of the artists who shared the stage:

Thank you to for providing live sound; and for bringing free bike helmets and bike decorating; .pdx for showing up with major support; and PBOT and Metro for helping make the celebration possible.

To all of the young people, families, artists, mentors, volunteers, partners, neighbors, staff and board members who joined us: thank you for helping us celebrate this next chapter of youth arts in East Portland. We are forever grateful and proud to be part of this community. ❤️

Our mural was created through a partnership between and our buildingmates and program collaborators, , with support from an grant. Members of the MVM community shared what the organization and studio have meant to them, and young artists transformed those stories into the mural’s imagery and design.

We’re deeply grateful to for organizing the project and facilitating the youth-led design workshops, to for helping guide the youth-centered creative process, and to and for bringing the vision to life with their artistic brilliance.

A huge shout-out to our wonderful building owners, whose passion for the arts runs deep. We said, “Huge mural,” and they said, “YES!”

We also celebrated the unveiling of BUS-A-Flow, Ascending Flow’s new mobile recording and media arts studio. A retired transit bus donated by and renovated by .builds is becoming a mobile recording studio, performance stage and creative hub—bringing music, mentorship, digital storytelling and creative opportunities directly into underserved communities across Oregon. Be sure to follow and see where BUS-A-Flow goes next! 🚌🔥
