In January, the House passed the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act. This funding is widely used to support safety for survivors of domestic and s*xual violence, without stabilizing this fund, programs across the country will continue to face cuts, putting survivor services at risk.

The Senate is now being asked to pass this critical act to protect victim services funding. You can share your thoughts with your Senators and ask for them to pass the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act here: https://futureswithoutviolence.quorum.us/campaign/PassCVFSA2026/

En enero, la Cámara de Representantes aprobó la Ley de Estabilización del Fondo para Víctimas de Delitos. We are excited for our next month’s Art it Out! offering at the new Family Peace Center in Hillsboro. We partner with our friends at SARC Oregon , and meet in their beautiful healing room.

A staggering 1 in 4 girls will experience child s*xual abuse before the age of 18. Data shows that for Black girls, those numbers double. 💔

We believe that each of us is more than the worst thing that has ever happened to us. When we gather we center joy and delve into the “more” of who we are. We don’t deny or avoid our pain, but neither do we center it.

I remember vividly the moment I realized the impacts of the abuse I had experienced as a child. It was a lot. I remember it feeling like a tangled ball of yarn that needed to untangle. I felt so overwhelmed, not knowing where to even begin in my healing process. It wasn’t long after that a dear friend who’d walked the path before me said to me, “Just take the step that is right in front of you. You will know. Trust yourself.” That advice has helped me so often and it’s helped me help others when they feel overwhelmed. There are a multitude of options (steps to take) for a survivor of interpersonal harm. We offer our Art it Out! program to survivors in our community and if it feels like a step you’d like to take in your own healing journey, we’d love to have you join us. Feeling very nostalgic and incredibly grateful over here this morning as I learn of Ms. Gloria Steinem’s passing.

The gratitude for the impacts of her work on my life runs deep.

It was thru her foundation, The Ms. Foundation for Women, that OAASIS Oregon, a non profit org I co-founded 2 years earlier, received a three year grant to do the difficult and rewarding work of trying to build a movement to end child s*xual abuse.

It was thru her foundation that we realized there was a whole national MOVEMENT of folks already doing this work. In fact, there were pioneers in the field that were part of a cohort of freaking rock stars that we were SO fortunate to learn from and with.

It was thru her foundation that I got the wild chance of meeting, hugging, and thanking my childhood hero, Marlo Thomas, who’s 1970’s show “Free to Be You and Me”, somehow made me feel like I mattered. 🥹

This is an offering for churches from the good folks GRACE - Godly Response to Abuse in the Christian Environment.

We encounter many survivors of abuse in church or faith settings. Churches can act to better protect children in their care.

Safe Church Course: Abuse Prevention and Response
Fall 2026 Cohort
Sept 1 - Oct 20

Learning Objectives:
-Recognize key forms, dynamics, and indicators of abuse in church settings.
-Apply biblical and theological principles to power, vulnerability, and accountability.
-Lead prevention efforts that strengthen culture and interrupt grooming.
-Respond to disclosures and survivor needs with trauma-informed practices.
-Implement effective reporting and accountability frameworks, including for known offenders.
