“A master class of grit” or a really Good reason? 🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏊‍♂️🚣‍♂️⛰️❤️
This past weekend myself and 15 amazing people received the Outstanding Alumni Award at Oakmont.
I was honored to be in a group of doctors, nurses, authors, ceo’s, inventors, food sovereigntist and the 46th surgeon general. What made me so proud was how I was being recognized for the “Why” behind what I do. Raising funds and awareness for causes that support those in need. Everyone in this list have this same goal of a greater good.
I felt so lucky to have all these people that have loved and supported me over the years there. Without them, I probably wouldn’t have done any of this.
Honored to be deemed well enough to put on a “master class of grit”, I pushed on because I’ve had a few really Good reasons. Honoring lost friends through the world record ride for NAMI, NE6 for Alzheimer’s, running across Maine for MS, riding cross country for St Jude’s, the South America record attempt to build clean water infrastructure, protecting rivers amongst others too long winded to list or yet to be accomplished.
Thank you to the Good People of the Bicycle Brendan community and their support of my continued efforts of Good ❤️

1 year running everyday 🗓️🏃‍♂️
Exactly a year ago, I started a goal of running at least 1 mile everyday for an entire calendar year. This was exactly the day after I completed the first Stand Up Paddle Board of the CT River to raise money for
Over the course of the year, I found many creative ways to fit my daily bread in. Only succumbing to roughly 4 treadmill miles while being at work or in clinical time.
I learned many lessons through the past year. I ran hurt, sick and tired. This was not a cliche moment of making your own motivation though. That was something I had learned through years of training summer sports in New England winters.
This was actually a goal of radical moderation. Almost every year of the past decade, I was training to cross some vast landscape by human powered travel. This forced me to be able to say yes to a lot of other fun stuff.
During my year of running every day I also: picked up playing tennis with Olyvia, started to learn cross country skiing, added over 50+lbs to my back squat, taught myself a bunch of Olympic barbell lifts, started paramedic school, wrote 20 new songs and recorded 7 of them with two of my oldest/best buds amongst much more that would get lost in a social media post.
Maybe I’ll continue the streak, maybe I’ll stop running tomorrow to prove some other kind of point. Whatever I decide, I’m very glad to have done this. I truly love running.
