👻 SEPTEMBER “COOKIE CRAFTING” TUTORIAL BY PATRICIA LONG, NOW ON COOKIE CONNECTION! 👻

Patricia Long (aka on Instagram) is back with a new Cookie Crafting tutorial, and this one is such a sweet take on Halloween!

In Cute Ghost in the Mirror Cookie, Patricia shows how she builds the dimensional ornate mirror frame, creates the little ghost and pumpkin details with royal icing transfers, and finishes the piece with an isomalt “glass” effect. The result looks incredibly detailed, but Patricia walks you through the process step by step — and she’s included her template, too!

For all of the step-by-step details, check out the complete tutorial below, and enjoy! 👻🎃

Yesterday’s Reel moved quickly, so today let’s slow down and take a closer look at all the little details. 📖✨

This was my classic storybook interpretation of the theme I shared previously. From the soft, aged-page coloring and hand-painted illustrations to the delicate lettering, tiny dimensional bees, and drops of honey—every design was created to feel like a sweet page from an old children’s book.

And the sweetest ending? My customer told me that everyone was blown away by how beautiful the cookies were. Messages like that make all those tiny details completely worth it. 🥹🤍

Swipe through for a closer look, and tell me—which little detail caught your eye first?

Yesterday you saw this set in motion—today, let’s slow down and look at all the little details. 💕 Swipe to see them up close!

A classic storybook-inspired welcome for baby Estella Rose, filled with soft pinks, hand-painted characters, tiny flowers, little bees and plenty of dimensional royal-icing roses. 🌹🐝

Some cookie sets are made to be viewed one detail at a time—and this was definitely one of them. 🥹

Which detail made you stop swiping?

I can finally share the news! ✨

I’ve been named a finalist in the Cookie category of the 2026 Cake Collaborator Magazine Awards! 🖤🏆

This recognition makes me incredibly happy and proud—but it also made me reflect on what cookie artistry looks like in everyday life.

I’m an everyday working cookie artist. I know what it means to create a dozen cookies for $75, and I know what it means to devote several days to one artistic cookie worth $100 or more. I’ve experienced competitions from different sides—as a competitor, a winner more than once, and also as a judge. Those experiences have shown me how difficult it can be to compare the many different forms cookie art can take.

Whether I’m beginning a customer order, a competition piece, or a magazine project, every creation starts with an idea. Then come the hours of piping, painting, sculpting, experimenting, correcting mistakes—and occasionally wondering why I chose to make something quite so complicated. 😅

A showpiece allows one idea to grow deeply. A customer order asks us to recreate the same care and detail across 12, 50, or even 200 cookies. When one “simple” step must be repeated that many times, consistency becomes an art of its own. Sometimes creating one detailed dozen can be more technically and physically challenging than creating a single piece for a show.

I shared a few more personal thoughts in this carousel because I want this moment to celebrate not only one nomination, but also the remarkable everyday work being created by cookie artists everywhere.

I’m truly honored to be included alongside such an extraordinary group of artists. Congratulations to all the finalists, and thank you to Cake Collaborator Magazine and Siriwardena for this recognition and for celebrating edible art.

The winners will be announced live on October 10, 2026. Whatever happens next, being selected as a finalist already feels incredibly special. ✨
