Unit Souzou Co-Director, Michelle Fujii, will be co-facilitating a full day of workshops exploring creativity, connection, and belonging through taiko in Los Angeles on Monday, Sept 7th.

Healing Through Taiko, Dialogue & Play
Facilitated by ManMan Mui, Chris Tsang, and Hia Phua, this embodied experience combines taiko, guided reflection, dialogue, and somatic practices to explore interdependence, belonging, visibility, and self-expression.

Deepening Your Connection to Taiko
Facilitated by Michelle Fujii and Karen Young, this workshop offers space for journaling, reflection, and conversation to help you integrate your experiences, reconnect with your authentic voice, and deepen your relationship with taiko, yourself, and your community.

This Thursday, May 14th, Co-Director Michelle Fujii will be leading a conversation on 'Otherness and Belonging' at Happy Valley Library, serving as an Oregon Humanities Conversation Leader.

About:
How does otherness shape our sense of identity and our perception of others? In this conversation, we will reflect on our personal experiences of belonging to uncover the universality of otherness and examine how we can use empathy to bridge the divides in isolated communities and foster the acceptance of diverse voices. Join Oregon Humanities Conversation Project Facilitator Michelle Fujii for an exploration of cultivating empathy for both ourselves and others.

This program is part of the One Book One Coast project, centered on the book They Called Us Enemy by George Takei.

We’re teaching taiko classes again!
As part of The Reser’s Musical Passport Series, we’ll be offering a four-class taiko series open to all skill levels. During the taiko sessions, you will actively participate in lively, rhythmic individual and ensemble exercises. Join us in celebrating community through the art of taiko - Sundays: April 12, 19, 26, and May 3, 11:30 am - 12:30 pm.
