My Poem, My Grief
08/25/2026
After 3.5 years of hard work, recovering from 2 full knee replacement surgeries and 6.5 years of battling my weight, I finally feel "good again"!
Last month, I finally got back out there and trekked/trail ran Cape Horn. Got her done in 2 hrs and 45 minutes!! What a humble surprise and confirmation of the hard work I have put in to my health!
Since July 7th, I have been walking 4.5 miles, in one stretch, daily. In the past 2 weeks, I have been walking 5! I am appreciative of what this body can do at my age (55 by the way 😁).
Next month marks one year of my effort to lose fat. This journey is still happening but I can safely say I am 35 lbs down and that feels amazing! I had lost hope that it could happen but now, day by day, I can see proof of a body getting healthier and healthier!
I do not share to boast or fish for accolades... I share to inspire, encourage, and bring hope!!
And....if anyone wants to do a walk and talk, totally game!!!

In response to thinking about a client who made a comment, "I will always carry this heavy grief"...
I just thought of an analogy, and I didn't wanna forget it, so here it goes.
If you imagine carrying a 50 pound rock every day, you have to lift it up and carry it and walk for a mile... in the beginning, it feels so incredibly heavy. It may even feel impossible. But if you do that for a 100 days, by the end of the 100 days you notice it is going to be a little bit lighter! It's lighter, because you've built muscle and now you have the muscles to support and carry it. And that's the same with grief, and our trauma ... we're building our nervous system. We're building our heart and emotional muscles so that we can carry it, honor it and it becomes a little bit lighter as we move along in our healing journey.
