Meet one of our instructors, Ashe Ertel!

Ashe is a welder, teacher, and an artist. Specializing in TIG welding and has worked on a number of wonderful pieces of art installed around Portland. One of their favorite pieces would be the Sculpture called Land Dance found in front of Key Bank in Lake Oswego.

We are so lucky to have Ashe share space and knowledge with us over here at Wildcat!

Did you know that we offer open studio here at Wildcat?!

Open Studio offers returning students dedicated shop time to build on the skills learned in class. After completing a course, they can sign up to practice, explore, and create at their own pace. The space is welcoming, supportive, and designed to spark creativity. Tools and guidance are available to help bring personal projects to life. It’s the perfect way to keep learning, growing, and making.

Meet the team!

This is Mike Suri of ⚒️

An award winning Portland based Artist. He has spent his career working in fabrication, experimental sculpture, & blacksmithing. Opening his own company, Suri Iron, he has creating numerous large public works projects all over the region. He focuses on creating a inviting and nurturing environment for students to learn. He looks forward to being a mentor to his students and helping like minded individuals explore the creative side to Blacksmithing!

Meet one of our metal-smith instructors, Skip from Malachite Silver Co. ✨

Skip is a self-taught metal-smith based here in Portland, Oregon. She started playing with flame and metal during peak pandemic and fell in love with every aspect of metal-smithing and never looked back.

She teaches a variety of classes here at Wildcat and loves sharing her knowledge, tips and tricks with the community.
