Irish Night Portland
Irish Night Portland is a concert series devoted to Traditional Irish Music! Come join us!
Since 2006, Irish Night at Blue has provided Portland with its weekly dose of quality traditional music from Ireland and elsewhere. There is concert featuring a different artist or group each week around 7:30pm and then an Irish session with local players starting around 9pm til whenever. $4 pints of Guinness every week.
From Jaime Eller: Announcement: the weekly Sunday Traditional Irish Session at Ri Ra is moving to a monthly session the last Wednesday of the month from 6-8pm.
First session will be Oct 28th 6-8pm
Hope to see lots of familiar faces!!!
Please pass around info of change! Thanks!
From Tom: This really sucks. Cancelled for football after 10 straight years of Sunday sessions. Last week, we had a packed house enjoying football on the screens AND cheering on the music! The session is the only thing truly Irish left at Ri Ra and they are making a big mistake. Feel free to stop by and let the new manager, Des, know how you feel about it!

RIP Paddy Keenan.
One of the greatest Uilleann pipers to ever play the instrument, period. Paddy’s influence on Irish music is unmistakable. His influence on me was especially great as well. When I started working for Green Linnet and developing a taste for the pipes, Paddy and Jerry O were the two guys to see in the US and I saw them often. It was really watching Paddy move an entire audience of hundreds to tears with an air he had written for his Dad that made me want/need to take on this journey. He was a blast to hang with, always put on a great show when I booked him and provided me with much guidance over the years. He had a way of making the instrument seem effortless and no one to this day can fully match his tone. He was a kind, funny man and I considered him a friend. Keep the tunes going Paddy, you will be missed, and thanks for the music.
