We had a terrific time last week sharing coffee and discussion with the Just Create Community group at Copperhead Coffee in Hillsboro! Lots of great questions about the evolving legal landscape for ADUs, especially in rural zones.
We also discussed the many uses of an ADU - everything from an independent home for a young adult in the family to a downsized post-retirement getaway on one's own property. The main house can be rented or kids and grandkids might move in. So many options, with even more coming along as Oregon laws continue to provide more options for infill housing and multigenerational living.

Everyone we talk with about building an ADU has their own initial idea of what problem they hope it'll solve, or what benefit they might gain from it. House Beautiful has a great article this week about the author's experience purchasing a home with an ADU and discovering uses and its value she'd not even considered before.

We’re walking through the framing stage of this 575 SQFT, 1 Bed, 1 Bath guest house in Northeast Portland. Featuring our signature mono-slope roofline, this build is especially exciting because it’s the exact floor plan showcased in the Backyard Blueprint logo.
