Pageant Week has come to a close and I think it’s official, I’m going to continue exploring pageantry.

If you had told me over 6 months ago that I’d compete for a state title crown, I would have CACKLED in your face! As I’ve mentioned, I NEVER saw myself doing anything like this because I didn’t see plus size Black women who looked like me in the pageant world.

But omg, this experience has been so incredible, I don’t think I’ll ever get over the fact that now I’m a pageant Queen…WHAT?! 🤯

Pageant weekend was absolutely BONKERS but I have learned so much about people and most importantly, myself. As yall know, my personal life has been an absolute hot mess and despite the many challenges I faced during this experience, I still persevered and continued to show up. I’m so so proud of myself for choosing to keep going.

I didn’t win the title but damn it, I fu***ng did that!! And I’m so very proud of the winners because they absolutely deserve it and I can’t wait to see what they do next.

Sorry for the late hour but I’m kinda close to crashing out at this point so I gotta vent:

Today has been a motherf**kin DAY.

Pageant Day is this Sunday and I have a broken crown, a misspelled sash, another sash with words peeling off and another sash that’s going to need some DIY.

I’m winging my state costume, it’s a long story.

I still don’t have an evening gown which is an even longer story that led to how I ended my day today: me going to Gresham, due to I5 closure, trying to borrow a gown via a local gown company recommended by the pageant and they would not let me borrow a gown.

Can’t afford to rent a gown. Can’t afford to buy a gown.

A pageant queen with a broken crown, funky sashes and no evening gown. Hahhahaha that’s actually kinda hilarious when you think about it.

And don’t get me wrong, the flip side has been an INCREDIBLE experience like I met Poison Waters. I just went to Portland Fashion Week. And omg the amazing people I’ve met who are doing incredible work in the community.

Like I’m so seeing both extreme sides of the pageant world. Someone recently asked me if I would do this again and I honestly don’t know because even though there have been wonderful moments, there have been A LOT of arduous challenges I faced, and that I’m still facing, during this experience.

I don’t know but uh yeah, f**k capitalism.

As of right now, I’m no longer in the running of becoming America’s Next Top Model, I mean, People’s Choice Miss Black Oregon Pageant ™️

But that’s totally okay because we still have time to catch up!

You know that saying, when you make plans, God laughs.

Well sky daddy must have been CACKLING when I made my summer plans this year because everything that could go wrong in my life has gone wrong for me and I’m worse off now than where I was back in May.

I left my job & started my own business which (yay?) but it has been such a brutal experience so far, I would honestly be shocked if my business survives a year. Like I’m being so for real right now because I honestly don’t how the f**k I’m going to survive this winter which is the slowest season in my industry.

I’m still (kinda) houseless and living with family because landlords are terrible, rent is astronomical and I’m just not making enough money.

I can’t afford to pay the pageant fees which will determine whether or not I can stay in the competition. I haven’t been able to get any sponsors to sponsor me. I don’t have a gown or state costume and pageant day is less than 20 days away…

I’m just so tired of grinding all day every day and yet I have so little to show for it. I feel like this whole summer I’ve been constantly knocked down and then relentlessly kicked while I’m still trying to get back up.

This doesn’t include the state of the world, losing good people like Dolly Parton while monsters like Trump still live their best lives like I’m at that point where 2026 can now officially go f**k itself.

I’m glad that it’s finally September because that means we’re that much closer to the new year but given how things have been going, when does it get better?
