I have a collection of over 120 dancing solar figurines that sit on three window sills in the hallway outside my office.
I hadn't noticed until yesterday that I have 3 shark ones [one is all the way from Hawaii]. They dance - okay, they bob from side to side - but to some, that is dancing!
I've submitted a request to the Guinness World Records to see if they would qualify for the largest collection of dancing solar figurines...we'll see.
I probably wouldn't have taken notice if we weren't doing a show about a shark. Weird how things pop out at you when you least expect it.
THE SHARK IS BROKEN ends this Sunday
4 shows left.
Tonight, Thursday, Sept 24th show is at 7:00 - grab a ticket and take a bite out of your evening.

Someone walked up to me after the show last night and asked, "So, where's the shark?"
What could I say?
I thought for a second and said, "It would be too big for the set."
I love when things are left to the imagination; that's the magic of theater.
The Shark Is Broken
Now through September 27th.
Maybe I should have a baby shark replica in the lobby? I'm just not feeling it.
See you at the theater and let your imagination run wild!

For all of these 37 years, we've had several lighting designers:
*David Tallman
*Jim Weismann
*Drew Flint
*Jeff Forbes
*Jeff Woods
*Trevor Sargent
As we were going into our new season, Trevor told me that he and his partner were moving to New York. I kinda freaked out because he alone was our resident lighting designer for 10 years!
I reached out to Samantha Van Der Merwe at Shaking the Tree Theater, and she gave me a couple of recommendations, one of whom I couldn't wait to meet: Sophina Flores.
The chain of chats started with me, then Trevor, then Jason Coffey, and we all agreed Sophina would be perfect.
And, honestly, I was and am still blown away. To the point that Sophina is our resident designer this year.
Come see her work, as well as the rest of the team and actors, for our first show: The Shark Is Broken.
Now through September 27th

I walked by the stage today and stopped. What some lights and paint, as well as props, do to make a set pop.
Theater magic, right?
We're in our second week of presenting The Shark IS Broken.
What a time we've had.
Come share a night with "the boys on the boat"!
Tonight's show is at 7:00 pm, with doors opening at 6:30.
The show runs 90 minutes without an intermission.

As you know, our 3rd show of the 37th season will be in New York - off-Broadway.
Our team has been working hard to get the word out. For the past several months, we have had an ad in various Playbills:
The Outsiders
Hadestown
Six
The Rocky Horror Show
The Lost Boys
And we've been selling tickets!
Eureka and I have been holding Google Meetings every week, working on getting familiar with the script and learning lines.
I'm still working hard on fundraising- this has not been easy...
But we're opening in December - New York, better watch out, DIVINE IS RETURNING!
