Bathing a new intake covered in fleas. Watch that water go from clear to brown. Feeling so much better now.

Tube feeding my foster kittens that have calici virus which causes tongue ulcers. The ulcers are painful so they don’t nurse as effectively and need supportive care to recover and thrive.

Back to bathing kittens. These nuggets went to a new foster home but have been struggling a little bit with diarrhea. We are treating them and they came for supportive care today. Surprise! They pooped on the way over. So of course a bath.

Note: tube feeding should only be done by experienced and trained people. Tube feeding neonates is necessary to ensure they get the much needed calories and fluid intake. In this case the kittens have calici virus. The virus most likely came from Mom because she was a stray cat and unvaccinated. The virus causes oral ulcers and upper respiratory infections. Luckily these kittens just have the oral ulcers and seem to be mostly stable, but some of them just aren’t gaining weight or maintaining their hydration because their tongue hurts so they’re not nursing as efficiently or as well as as they should be.

Medicating a whole litter of kittens. Believe it not. These are the easier ones.

Still figuring out this eating thing. I need a bigger syringe.

Meet Puddle. Her foster takes in neonates and when they graduate their care I find them new spaces. Today she’s with me. She’s so sweet and cute.

New babies and they are figuring out that canned food is good. These tinies came from PDX Cat Trapper with their mom (sooooo feral). She was TNR’d and I kept the tinies. Luckily they are right about 5 weeks old and ready to eat solid food. They are doing so well.
