With heavy hearts, we honor the memory of Mike Phillips, a beloved member of our Fences For Fido Oregon Coast Volunteer Team. 🌈💙🧡🐾
Mike showed up for the dogs with kindness, humor, and a generous spirit. He was the kind of person who made hard work feel lighter - always ready to lend a hand, share a laugh, and help create a safer, better life for a dog in need.
Over the years, his care and compassion became part of the heart of Fences For Fido. Every doghouse delivered, every muddy or rainy day spent building a fence, helping a Fido live free - those moments mattered and so did he.
We are grateful for the joy he brought, the dogs he helped, and the friendships he built along the way.
Our hearts are with his family, friends, and all who loved him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his Fido family. 🧡

AJ needs help to survive. $6,159 in emergency vet care. 💙🐾🧡
Handsome, sweet, AJ is a 1-year-10-month-old, 80-pound mastiff who almost didn’t survive the night.
His guardian came to us in tears, with no way to pay for the emergency care he desperately needed.
AJ was swollen, in pain, and unable to move. At the emergency hospital, vets discovered a life-threatening prostatic abscess and said they were surprised he was still alive given the amount of infection in his body.
Without immediate surgery, AJ likely would not have survived the next 24–48 hours.
The choice was clear: AJ needed emergency care immediately.
Fences For Fido covered the exam, emergency surgery, and post-care to give AJ every possible chance to live.
AJ is now stable and being closely monitored, but Fences For Fido has taken on $6,159 in lifesaving veterinary expenses.
If you are able to give, your donation will help cover AJ’s emergency care and help us continue showing up when dogs and families have nowhere else to turn.
AJ deserved a chance.
Because of this community, he has one. 💙🧡

Come say hi to Fences For Fido in Washougal! 🐾🧡

We’ll be at the Newfie X-Travaganza Giant Breed Event on September 26 from 11:30–3:30 at 54-40 Brewing Co. Taproom in Washougal, WA. hosted by, The National Newfoundland Rescue.

This family-friendly event is open to the public and especially fun for giant breed lovers and their well-mannered pups. We’re excited to be out in the community, meet fellow dog-loving folks, and share more about what safe freedom means for the Fidos we serve.

Stop by our table, visit for a bit, and help us bring some Fido love to the day. Familiar faces, new friends, and happy dog stories are always welcome.

Charlie is only one year old — still very much a big puppy in a Great Dane mix body. 💙

Before the Fido Team arrived, Charlie was tethered 24 hours a day to a doghouse that was far too small for him. He had so much growing, playing, stretching, and zooming to do.

So, Fences For Fido volunteers became LOVE IN ACTION.

With willing hands and big hearts, Fences For Fido Volunteers built him a secure area where he can finally move freely, and experience the kind of everyday freedom every dog deserves - and volunteers built a much bigger doghouse for Charlie!

Charlie’s life looks different now.

No more being tethered around the clock. No more tiny doghouse as his whole world. Just space, safety, shelter, and the beginning of a much better life for one very deserving Fido.

And to every donor who helped make Charlie’s build possible - THANK YOU. Your kindness became his fence, his safe space, and his chance to finally be the big, goofy puppy he was meant to be. 💙🧡

Volunteer Build Help Needed — Waldport, OR 💙🧡

Meet Finn and Sawyer — two big, lovable Fidos who are very ready for a safe place to play.

Finn is a gentle giant and Sawyer is his loyal partner in “crime.” Their favorite hobby? Digging under or breaking through their old, dilapidated wood fence so they can head into the neighborhood and say “hi!” to everyone.

Finn may look intimidating because of his size, but he is truly just a goofy sweetheart who wants to be friends. Unfortunately, when large dogs get loose, even friendly ones can cause concern, and animal services have been called multiple times.

Their guardian is a hardworking single mom of three who has done everything she can to keep them safely contained — patching the fence with whatever materials she can find and even letting the blackberries grow wild in hopes the thorns might slow Finn down.

News flash: they did not.

So the Fido Team is heading to Waldport on Sunday, September 13 to build Finn and Sawyer a secure backyard where they can run, play, and stay safely home with the family who loves them.

Once a month, Fences For Fido Volunteers show up for Big Build Days on the Warm Springs Reservation, and they come from all over Oregon to do it. 💙🧡

These days are never just “a few fence builds.” Instead, they are full days of listening, problem-solving, repairing, building a new fence, delivering, checking in, helping with rehoming and responding to whatever is needed most.

Big Build Days are big because the need is big, and because our volunteers show up with open hearts, willing hands, and a deep belief that every dog deserves safety.

Take young Blaze, for example - his family had moved from a home with a fenced yard to a place without one. Without a safe space, Blaze had to be tied up 24 hours a day, with only his doghouse for shelter. Now, because Fido Volunteers showed up, Blaze has what every dog deserves: room to move, space to breathe, and the safety of a fence.

That is what these days are about.

Not just building fences — but meeting families where they are, helping dogs where they need us most, and creating safe freedom one Fido at a time. 💙
