This is Nate. His mother grew up with my sister and me, which makes standing at the end of this dock photographing her son feel like time folding in on itself. He walked toward me with the kind of ease you can't pose for. Truly honored to capture a moment of his senior year.

Full sprint, eyes locked, nobody else in the world. Parents in the stands see the play. A camera at the right distance sees the effort on his face.

The beauty of sports photography is capturing the moment just before the moment. The focus, the chase, the anticipation of what happens next.

This is Taylor. We moved between two locations for her session, chasing the light as it softened through the evening. That light only lasts a few minutes, and it never comes back the same way again. Neither does senior year, which is exactly why we photograph it.

This is Devrim. He stepped into this session sure of himself, and the sunset did the rest. I photographed his brother's senior year last year, so being chosen again for this one is an honor I don't take lightly. Thank you for the opportunity.

I’ve been playing with some new editing techniques lately, and I am having way too much fun seeing what’s possible.

Team photos don’t have to mean everyone standing in two rows, smiling at the camera.

They can have movement.
Personality.
Attitude.
Energy.

They can actually feel like the team.

This MGFF session gave me the perfect opportunity to push the creativity a little further, from dramatic lighting and backgrounds to action shots and edits that make these athletes look every bit as powerful as they feel on the field.

And this is just the beginning.

Sports teams, seniors, dancers, businesses, brands... there are so many possibilities when we stop thinking about photography as simply taking a picture and start thinking about what we can create.
