Some words can’t be translated, they can only be felt
If you try to translate words like Dạ, Vâng, Ạ, Ơi, or Nhé into English, they often lose their magic.

They aren't just vocabulary; they are the tiny condiments of the Vietnamese language, carrying centuries of respect, warmth, and deep family connection.

This summer, let’s fill our homes with these beautiful, untranslatable rhythms.

Don't know where to start? Click the link in our bio to check out our bilingual book collections and start planting these language seeds today!

One of my favorite things about raising bilingual kids is noticing how culture gets passed down in the smallest moments.

Sometimes it’s through language.

Sometimes it’s through food.

And sometimes it’s through an ordinary paper bag ❤️

What has brought you joy when raising bilingual kids oversea?

Don't teach your kids Vietnamese if you want...
..to miss out on your heart melting every time they say "Mẹ ơi" or "Ba ơi."..them to grow up without knowing the pride of their beautiful heritage...to stop your toddler from being mom’s official (and funny) interpreter...them to feel like a stranger instead of feeling right at home in Vietnam...to miss the joy of hearing them chat and laugh with their Ông Bà...to keep them from having a bilingual superpower for the rest of their life.

Just kidding! There are zero reasons not to.

You should 100% speak Vietnamese at home! Share your roots and give them a beautiful gift they will keep forever. ❤️

Our kids may not look Vietnamese to the world, but every day they carry pieces of their Vietnamese heritage,
Through language, food, customs, and... the little things we weave into daily life.

These tiny sparks of connection are what keeps me on this bilingual parenting journey and remind us of our roots.

No smartphones, no problem! Our childhood was pure magic.

Before modern screens took over, kids in Vietnam were the ultimate creators. A piece of scrap paper, a few leaves from the garden was all it took to stay happy all day long.

These simple toys did not just keep us busy, they built our imagination and gave us beautiful memories that stay with us forever.

Today’s Vietnamese learning looked like sticky notes, tiny prompts, and a whole lot of triangle tracing. We counted the sides, named the shape, traced it with our fingers, and even made hearts with our hands.

Simple, playful, doable = the Little Ears way.

These micro‑prompts help kids build vocabulary and confidence:
• noticing shapes
• counting in Vietnamese
• connecting words to movement
• turning everyday moments into bilingual practice

Save this reel for your next storytime or quiet‑together moment.
