Last weekend I emerged from the Pagan Circus caves to assist with a Portland 48 Hour Film Project. Had the best time doing puppetry, weird voices and even a little “acting” during an all-nighter shoot in a coffee shop. It was a joy knowing I helped a roomful of adults get silly with weirdo puppets.

You can watch this wacky little short (along with films from many other teams) in Portland this Saturday, 8/1 at the Clinton (3-5pm block). I’ll be there, seeing it for the first time!

Many thanks to the rest of the crew, my pal the great doomfruit for assisting, and Christopher Diego for guiding the ship and letting me puppet it up!

One-brush creature doodle with the Polygons brush in . Felt weird in the earlier stages, but when the details got tighter it was like sketching with graphite.

I like to sketch creatures with awkwardly shaped Procreate brushes. Like my scribble start technique, it gets me rotating the page, peering into a mess to find something living in there. Then I pull it out into the light a little so that I can show you, too.
