I'm at Locker61 today & wanted to share some amazing books available from a fellow vendor. The books range frim $3-$8.
**The Dutch House by Ann Patchett - dark family drama spanning five decades & following the unbreakable bond between siblings.
**The Kite Runner - is a powerful novel about guilt, betrayal, and redemption set against the turbulent history of Afghanistan.
**A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman - a grumpy, rigid widower whose attempts to end his life are continually interrupted by his chaotic new neighbors. I highly recommend Fredrik Backman's books. Well-written with rich characters.
**Girl, Forgotten by Karin Slaughter - a crime thriller that follows newly minted U.S. Marshal Andrea Oliver as she investigates a 40-year-old cold case murder. I enjoy Slaughter's novels more than the famed Freida McFadden.
**The Sister's Keeper by Jodi Piccoult - this book left me emotionally drained. I have never ugly cried so hard. It is a bit different than the movie so don't think you know if you saw the movie. 😉
**The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. Kristin Hannah is a local PNW author. The Nightingale is currently in production starring the Fanning sisters. Incredible historical fiction and, arguably, her best book.
**All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr - Set during World War II, and follows the intersecting lives of Marie-Laure Leblanc, a blind French girl, and Werner Pfennig, a German orphan and radio prodigy, whose paths converge in the besieged coastal town of Saint-Malo as they fight to retain their humanity amid devastation.
**The Tattoist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris - historical fiction about a time in history that should never be forgotten. These novels humanize the individuals that went through such deploring evils of mankind.
**The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid - historical drama about an aging, reclusive Hollywood icon who recounts her scandalous life, seven marriages, and hidden truths to an unknown magazine reporter. SOOO GOOD

When we came up with "Shop • Connect • Create," we knew that “Connect” was an important part of what we wanted Locker61 to be.
What I’m not sure we realized was just how important it would become.
The longer we do this, the more I think connection may actually be the thing people are looking for most when they walk through our doors.
Yes, they come in to shop. They come looking for paint, furniture, something unique for their home, or a gift they won't find somewhere else. But so often, they stay and talk. They share what they're working on. They ask questions. They wander over to the workshop table and sit down to try something new. They meet someone they probably wouldn't have met otherwise.
And somewhere along the way, this place has started to feel like more than a store.
We wanted Locker61 to be a place where you could walk in and feel welcome. Where you don't have to know what you're doing to sit down and create something. Where it's okay to ask questions, get inspired, share an idea, laugh at something that didn't quite turn out the way you planned, or just hang around for a while.
And we're seeing that same thing happen with our vendors. What started as a group of people renting in the same building has begun to feel like a real community that truly cares for and shares a space. They're helping each other, sharing ideas, collaborating, volunteering, teaching, and genuinely rooting for one another.
That's probably been one of my favorite things to watch.
There are plenty of places to buy things. We never wanted Locker61 to be just another one of them.
We wanted to create a place where people felt comfortable walking through the door—and maybe felt a little more connected when they walked back out.
Shop • Connect • Create
The more time we spend here, the more I think that word in the middle might be the most important one.
