Holding in my heart all the souls who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001, and all those we have lost in the years since because of that day, along with their families and loved ones. May love and healing be with all of them. 💙

My newest article for The Havok Journal, “The Healer’s Arsenal,” explores what traditional healing practices and contemporary approaches to healing may have to learn from one another—and what can be lost when we understand the human being only through separate parts.

Modern medicine has given us extraordinary tools. Traditional healing systems have given us others.

I do not believe we have to choose between them.

Ancient and contemporary healing do not need to become the same to work together. There may be tremendous value in drawing from the whole healer’s arsenal.

I am very grateful to The The Havok Journal for publishing this piece.

I so enjoyed joining James Geering on Behind the Shield.

Here is a clip from our conversation, which explored healing, resilience, nervous system regulation, Light Touch®, and why supporting our first responders and other high-stress service communities has become such an important part of my work.

James, thank you for such a meaningful conversation, and for the important work you continue to do for the first responder community.

I am overwhelmed with gratitude to share that my article for The The Havok Journal is now live.

This piece is rooted in the extraordinary work of Dr. Eduardo Duran and his teachings on the soul wound, moral injury, and the healing of our Warriors.

Dr. Duran’s generosity in sharing his work with me, and giving me his blessing to bring these ideas forward, has meant more than I can express.

My deepest hope is that this article finds the Veterans who need it, especially those carrying guilt, grief, or experiences that have been difficult to name or reconcile.

Sometimes healing begins not by forgetting what happened, but by finding another way to understand it, honor it, and carry its meaning forward.

I am tremendously grateful to The Havok Journal and Managing Editor Scott Faith for his generous encouragement, for recognizing the importance of this conversation, and for giving it a home within the Veteran community.

If it reaches even one Warrior who feels less alone after reading it, I will be profoundly grateful.

I'm for so grateful to CRACKYL Magazine for publishing my second article, “Connection Is a Key to Resilience.”

We often think of resilience as toughness and endurance, but it is also about connection: staying connected to ourselves, recognizing what we need, and being present for the people beside us.

For First Responders, those moments of trust, awareness, and human connection can matter enormously.

Thank you, Kory Pearn for continuing to make space for these important conversations within the fire service and First Responder community.

I am honored to share that I have been named a Diplomate of the American Institute of Stress.

This recognition is deeply meaningful to me and reflects the work I have devoted my career to: supporting nervous system regulation, resilience, clarity, recovery, and mind-body well-being.

I look forward to continuing this work for Veterans, First Responders, healthcare professionals, and others living and working in high-stress environments.

Light Touch® users report more restful sleep, greater clarity and focus, a deeper sense of calm, and an increased ability to meet the demands of their daily lives.

These experiences can be especially meaningful for those working in high-stress professions, where sustained performance, effective recovery, and nervous system balance are essential. In this clip from my conversation with Eric Tung on Blue Grit Radio, I share why the experiences people were reporting compelled me to bring Light Touch® to our Warriors, First Responders, and others who carry extraordinary levels of stress.

I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to help make this support more widely available.

I just finished James Geering’s book, One More Light, and was deeply moved by the importance of what he has to say and the strength of his writing.

Through his stories, I came to understand even more clearly that supporting first responders is about far more than helping them save lives on a call, although that is, of course, central to their work. His writing reveals the physical, emotional, and psychological demands carried by police officers, firefighters, EMTs, dispatchers, and the many people who work alongside them.

James makes a powerful case for why first responders need elite training, healthy lifestyle support, meaningful recovery resources, and accessible wellness care. These are the people we rely on during the most critical moments of our lives, and we should be equally committed to protecting their strength, readiness, recovery, and well-being.

We expect first responders to perform at their best in life-or-death circumstances. They deserve the same serious investment in training, recovery, healthy lifestyle support, and wellness care that we provide to professional athletes.

I am also looking forward to speaking with James on James Geering next month.

So grateful to share that my article, “Beyond Toughness: Why Firefighters Need Recovery Tools for the Nervous System,” has been published by CRACKYL.

Firefighters are trained to be tough — and they are.

But recovery is not the opposite of toughness. Recovery is what helps the body and mind become ready again.

After repeated stress, long shifts, interrupted sleep, trauma exposure, and the constant need to respond, the nervous system needs support coming back to steadiness. That steadiness can affect sleep, focus, mood, clarity, family life, and daily readiness.

Special thanks to .kory and for welcoming this conversation and for the work you continue to do in support of the fire service community.
