🔥 Fire Prevention Week is here — Oct 4–10.

This year's national theme is "Charge Into Fire Safety": a reminder that everyday charging habits for e-bikes, scooters, phones, and power banks are one of the fastest-growing home fire risks.

A few habits that make a real difference this week:
✅ Test your smoke alarms
✅ Charge batteries in sight, away from exits, never overnight unattended
✅ Walk your family's escape plan

Proud to work alongside our friends at Princeton Fire Department all year to keep our community safe.

A big thank you to AnaŠen Health, title sponsor of the 2026 Drive for Lives Golf Classic.

Patrick Hill, CEO, and Dr. Janetta Brandt, Chief Medical Officer, stopped by the station today to present a $15,000 sponsorship check. That kind of support helps us keep answering the call for our community.

Drive for Lives is Tuesday, October 6, at The Bedens Brook Club. Thank you, AnaŠen Health, for showing up for Princeton.

"He never looked for any admiration or any payback. He just did it. It was just in his soul."

That's Al Toto Jr., talking about his father, Albert Toto Sr., one of the founding members of the Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad.

Albert Toto Sr. served as president and later treasurer. When the call came in, he might be cutting meat at the family's Witherspoon Street food business. He would drop everything, run out the door, and go get the ambulance.

87 years later, the Squad is still here because people like the Totos showed up. Al will be with us at Drive for Lives on Tuesday, October 6, at The Bedens Brook Club.

Thank you, Al, for the story and for your support.

Confined space entry drill this morning with our partners at .

Ropes, harnesses, air cylinders, and a lot of teamwork. Confined space rescues are slow, technical, and unforgiving, so we practice the skills before we ever need them.

Thank you to the Princeton Fire Department for training alongside us. Same community, same mission.

An ambulance with tail fins. A lawn full of rescue gear.

In this late-1950s photo, a PFARS station-wagon-style ambulance sits beside equipment laid out for display or inspection. Ladders, rope coils, oxygen tanks and rescue tools cover the grass. Look closely: the squad’s name is on the door.

PFARS began in 1939. 87 years later, we still answer the call. Do you remember this ambulance or recognize anyone near it?

Behind every badge number is a neighbor who showed up.

That's Member #8, sleeve patch and all, grinning for the camera with our ambulance idling behind him. This candid shot from the 1970s wasn't posed for a brochure. It's just a PFARS EMT at the end of a shift, tie loosened, glad to be caught smiling.

Back then a jacket, a number, and a rescue rig were most of what the job needed. The rest was showing up: for the 2am calls, the holiday shifts, the neighbors who needed a hand. That part hasn't changed at all. 87 years later, we still answer the call.

Recognize Member #8? Tell us his name in the comments.

It's the last day of Fall Prevention Awareness Week. Before the week ends, take ten minutes to check an older relative's or neighbor's home.

Clear cords from walking paths and secure loose rugs. Install grab bars by the shower and toilet. Check that hallways and stairs are well lit, especially at night. And ask a pharmacist or clinician whether any medications could cause dizziness.

The CDC says falls are the leading cause of injury for adults 65 and older. PFARS EMTs respond to fall-related calls in our community. A quick check at home can remove hazards before someone gets hurt.
