New launch: a refreshed homepage for Angelo State University.
ASU came back to us this summer with a clear ask. Almost seven years after we redesigned their site, the homepage needed new life, and they wanted it done over the summer on a budget sized to match.

We kept what had worked for the better part of a decade and made room for who ASU is now. That meant more video so the page moves, values showing up across the whole experience instead of sitting on one page, and RamFam culture front and center in a form that reads current today.

We also built it to flex. Higher ed keeps changing, and a homepage should be able to change with it.

If yours doesn't sound like you anymore, you don't have to live with it. A refresh runs on a short timeline and a modest budget, and it doesn't mean rebuilding the site underneath it.

Congratulations to the ASU team. Good to work together again.

The new Butte.edu is live!

We're proud that Butte College's new website has officially launched, and the iFactory team is thrilled with what we built together.

It started with discovery: student surveys, focus groups, analytics, and stakeholder interviews. One thing came through louder than everything else. Butte College's greatest strength is the personal support students feel the moment they arrive, and our job was to make the website show it.

So we did, end to end. We set the strategy around four themes: personal support, access and empowerment, partnership, and a smoother user experience. We rebuilt the information architecture around the way students actually move through the site, so they can find their path. Our content strategy traded jargon and buried PDFs for clear, welcoming guidance. The design leans on real photography of students and staff and a strong brand presence, so students can picture themselves at Butte. And we handled development on Cascade by Hannon Hill, where the new site is blazing fast.

The result is a student-first experience that makes college feel possible and says, from the homepage on, your success is our mission.

Huge thanks to Butte College, including team members Wayne Brandt andChristian Gutierrez for the partnership. Students first, always. πŸ‘ https://bit.ly/4wLEzGk

"Didn't we just pay for a redesign?" Too often, higher education institutions think of a website as a project with a launch date. In reality, a successful .edu website is an operational asset that requires continuous investment, governance, and cross-functional collaboration.

Website maintenance isn't just about fixing bugs or updating plugins. It's about ensuring accessibility standards are met, protecting against evolving security threats, improving site performance, supporting content governance, and delivering the digital experiences that students, faculty, staff, alumni, and prospective families increasingly expect.

As higher education continues to navigate enrollment pressures, changing user expectations, and rapid technological advancements, sustainable website management has become a strategic imperative, not just an IT responsibility. Our latest article explores what it really takes to maintain a modern .edu website and why planning for ongoing operations is just as important as planning for launch.

We're proud to have partnered with the University of Missouri System to redesign its website, creating a digital experience that reflects its extraordinary impact across the state.

As Missouri's premier public research university system and the state's only land-grant research university, the UM System is dedicated to advancing education, research, innovation, and service. Through its four universities, statewide health care system, research parks, extension centers, and technology networks, it helps strengthen communities across Missouri and beyond.

The new site showcases the UM System's statewide impact:
πŸŽ“ 75,000+ students shaping the future
πŸ’Ό 1 in 29 Missouri employees is a UM System graduate
πŸ’° $6.5+ billion contributed to Missouri's economy each year

We're honored to help tell the story of an institution committed to discovery, lifelong learning, and improving lives through education, research, and innovation. Explore the redesigned website.https://bit.ly/3RqGpwO

In higher ed, almost every prospective student starts with a search, and more of those searches now run through an AI answer that decides which institutions even make the shortlist. One of the smallest elements on a page does a lot of the work to earn that spot: the H1.

An H1 is the main heading that tells people and search engines what a page is about. When it clearly names the program or campus a student wants, search engines match it to the right query and visitors immediately know whether they belong there. When it is vague or missing, everyone loses the thread.

The basics are simple. Give each page one clear H1 in the language students actually use, order your H2s and H3s logically so search engines and screen readers can follow along, and keep that structure consistent across your program and admissions pages. Clean headings are what AI systems reward, and they help the right students find you and take the next step.

Check out our Insights article breaks down what an H1 is and the on-page habits that help higher-ed sites get found. When did your team last look at the headings on your top program pages? https://bit.ly/4yIm2Mv

New Launch: Anoka-Ramsey Community College.

A college website should do more than share information. It should help a student picture themselves there and believe they belong. Every story is unique, and this website was built to reflect that.

One month in, the early results are encouraging. Compared to the same period last year, clicks to apply are up 12%, total users are up 24%, and the site's average position in Google search has risen from 27 to 6. That last jump moved Anoka-Ramsey from the third page of results onto the first.

We were proud to partner with Anoka-Ramsey Community College and Modern Campus to create a digital experience that meets students where they are and helps them discover where they belong, explore what fits, and build momentum toward what's next. From flexible learning options and real student support to clear transfer pathways and career connections, the site reflects a college that assumes every student can get where they're going, and helps them do it.

Creating websites that empower organizations to tell their story and better serve their communities is why we love what we do. https://bit.ly/4ydZliQ

What does a higher education website redesign really cost?

The answer isn't just about the budget. It's about the scope, strategy, and long-term value. From content migration and accessibility to UX, SEO, integrations, and governance, every decision shapes the investment required. A successful redesign is more than a visual refresh; it's an opportunity to create a digital experience that supports enrollment, engagement, and institutional goals.

Before you start planning your next website project, explore the key factors that influence cost and learn how to budget strategically. Read our latest blog to learn more. https://bit.ly/3QQrJXB

A website redesign doesn't have to cost your university its search rankings. The biggest SEO losses after a relaunch usually aren't caused by the redesign itself. They're the result of a handful of preventable mistakes.

Our latest blog explains how to protect organic traffic, map redirects effectively, and make SEO part of your redesign strategy from the very beginning, not just before launch. If your institution is planning a website redesign, read our latest blog to learn more about the steps to take before the new site goes live.

How often should you redesign your website? There’s no magic timeline. Instead of watching the calendar, we look for signals that tell us what your institution actually needs.Sometimes a refresh is enough β€” improving how your site looks and performs. Other times, a redesign is needed to address deeper challenges like findability, audience needs, content structure, or platform limitations.

So, do you need a redesign? The honest answer is: it depends. And that answer only becomes useful when you understand what it depends on.

In our latest blog, we explore the common challenges institutions face, how to recognize them, and how we work together to diagnose the root issue.

Your next website visitor may not be a person.

AI agents are starting to browse for students and parents. They don't see your design. The hero video, the brand colors, the photography your committee debated? Invisible. What they read is structure: semantic HTML, headings, labeled forms, the accessibility tree.

So do you need an "agent experience" redesign? No. You need to finish the accessibility and SEO work already sitting on your to-do list. That same structure happens to serve three audiences at once: people, screen readers, and agents.
We break down what agents actually see, and give you 5 questions to run against your own site this week https://bit.ly/4vcd7k7
