I have… significantly more jeans in my closet than I’d like to admit, but this is the one pair that I’m wearing everyday, the Pratt Jeans. The fit, details and fabric are the refined combination of everything I wanted in a jean but couldn’t find anywhere else. Made locally in a small batch, so get yours while you can.

A closer look at the Pratt jacket reveals what the material once was.

This edition of 4 jackets is made entirely from dead stock jeans, to be more specific selvage denim jeans from Moncler. They were nearly incinerated but luckily found their way to me albeit with holes on the waistband and pocket where the logos once were. It took 3 pairs to make one jacket, due to the nature of reclaimed materials, each jacket is unique.

Here’s some detailed shots of the ghost stitching, meaning the denim keeps a memory of where the back pockets once were. This detail can only be achieved if you slow down and take the jeans apart on stitch at a time.

Back in high school my ability to make clothes capped at screen printing hoodies. That is until my friend Nolan showed up with a backpack and pants he made from scratch. I thought he was on a wavelength of genius DIY that I’d never comprehend… No way you can do that with just a sewing machine and some scissors?! I became very curious about sewing, and simultaneously clouded with doubts that I’d ever figure out how to sew something wearable. But seeing Nolan do it cracked that door of possibility open.

Fast forward a decade full of trial and error, I’ve just made Nolan a bespoke pair of jeans. This meant a lot to make jeans for my friend who attempted to teach me to make pants at the start of this journey.

After a handful of calls to discuss fit, fabric and details, we landed on the ingredients for Nolan’s ideal Henry Hawk jeans, or as I call it the Spot Jean. Cut from 10.5 oz reproduction Amoskeag selvage denim, woven in Japan. Drafted, cut and sewn in my studio in Rhode Island. Finished with hand sewn buttonholes, one piece button fly, dart stitching, patent era inspired pocket reinforcements, and more.

It’s a real treat to get this one off pair back in the studio for repairs and to see the life they’ve lived, or re-lived. These were made from 2 pairs jeans I thrifted in college, darker washes ready to take on a new journey. See the last 3 slides to compare new vs now. It’s one of the most gratifying things to see how something I made early on (2023) has aged with grace. Thank you Adrian for living in these, it’s beautiful.
