This jacket is the latest step in an idea I continue to refine, built from start to finish on a 1950s Singer 31-15 sewing machine and detailed with felled seams and hand-sewn buttonholes. Cut from 14.5 oz Selvage Cone Denim. Much like the selvage itself, this jacket was made in the old-fashioned way. It demands time and technique, prioritizing absolute quality over speed.
This is the first piece from a project I’m working on with Cone Denim as an ambassador. I had the opportunity to learn directly from their team about how denim is made and their 135-year history in the industry. Put simply, making denim is far more complex than I ever imagined. Each step vastly changes the end result; a handful of processes creating infinite possibilities.

The Pratt Jean is the result: a carefully considered five-pocket jean built from exceptional denim, refined through countless iterations, and made to earn its place as your daily driver.

A 12.75 oz slubby denim lays the foundation for the Pratt jean. The varied yarn widths create a beautiful crosshatched texture that only deepens with wear. Looking down at your denim becomes a Birds Eye view of a choppy ocean.
This weight hits the sweet spot for year-round wear: breathable enough for summer, and durable for the long haul.
I spent a full calendar year in 16+ oz denim in New England. Great in January. Miserable in July. The Pratt jean is meant to be your everyday, do-it-all jean. So I needed a fabric that could weather it all.
