The event is going to be so fun and family friendly with touch a truck, food trucks and live music from Felix Brown Band. Luke, was recently diagnosed with a rare genetic disease called Dup15Q, which is caused by extra DNA on chromosome 15. Dup15Q Syndrome is a lifelong, neurodevelopmental syndrome that has many symptoms including but not limited to epilepsy, uncontrolled seizures, abnormal brain activity, limited or absent verbal communication, autism, intellectual disabilities, developmental and motor delays, low muscle tone, GI problems, sleep problems and other medical and behavioral challenges. With this diagnosis comes a risk of sudden, unexplained death. Dup15Q is the leading genetic cause of autism. The Dup15Q Alliance (501C3 nonprofit) is actively working to fund research and move toward a clinical trial—and ultimately, a cure—for children like Luke.
