Join the Memory and Aging Program (MAP) team at the 4th Annual Black and Aging Health & Wellness Fair on August 7 at 109 Bucklin Street, Providence, from 9 a.m. - noon.

MAP is proud to partner with the West End Community Center for this free, rain-or-shine event, which brings together health and wellness resources for Black seniors and caregivers.

The Rhode Island Blood Center has declared a blood emergency.

Community support is urgently needed. The Rhode Island Blood Center is asking all eligible donors, especially those with Type O blood, to schedule an appointment immediately to help stabilize the blood supply.

Members of the Memory and Aging Program team recently traveled to London to attend the Alzheimer's Association International Conference (AAIC), the world's largest gathering dedicated to Alzheimer's disease and dementia research.

From engaging panel discussions and educational sessions to poster presentations and collaborative networking events, our team had the opportunity to share important research on Alzheimer's disease and related dementias with colleagues from around the globe.

It was an inspiring week of learning, collaboration, and innovation, and we are proud to have represented our program on an international stage.

Join the Memory and Aging Program (MAP) on August 2 in Newport or August 5 in Providence for a free community screening of My Mama Joe, Hope & Help, a documentary about one family’s journey caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease, followed by a panel discussion and resource fair.

MAP's Dr. Edward Huey and Dr. Bess Frost, Director of the Center for Alzheimer's Disease Research at Brown University, will serve as panelists alongside local experts. Attendees will receive a complimentary resource guide. Both events are free and open to the community.

Butler gathered to celebrate Julie Desaulniers, Senior Research Project Coordinator in the Behavioral Medicine and Addictions Research (BMAR) group, as Employee of the Month.

Known for her guidance, problem-solving skills, and positive, solutions-focused approach, Julie has earned the respect and admiration of colleagues throughout the organization. This recognition is a well-deserved reflection of her professionalism, warmth, and dedication.

From working with animal models in an undergraduate lab to coordinating Alzheimer’s clinical trials at MAP, Franchesca Rolón has always believed that understanding the brain matters.
