🔥 FIRE RESTRICTIONS RESCINDED 🔥

By authority of the Provo City Fire Chief, all fire restrictions will be rescinded effective at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

Due to increased moisture levels and cooler temperatures, fire restrictions are no longer in effect.

⚠️ PUBLIC SAFETY REMINDER: Provo Fire & Rescue strongly urges residents and visitors to continue exercising caution when using fire in or near mountainous and canyon areas. All fires must be properly contained within approved fire rings or pits located in designated areas.

Thank you for helping protect our community and watershed throughout fire season.

25 years later, we continue to remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and the countless families, friends, and communities forever changed that day.

We especially honor the 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, and other first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving others. Their courage, selflessness, and commitment to duty will never be forgotten.

Today, we remember those we lost, honor those who responded, and recognize the strength and resilience of those who carried on.

We will never forget.

The Provo Fire & Rescue Seasonal Fuels Mitigation Crew wrapped up its mitigation season last week after another productive summer protecting our community from wildfire.

This season, the crew focused on some of Provo’s highest-risk areas, providing a community curbside chipping service, maintaining city-owned properties throughout the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI), and creating and maintaining a critical fuel break along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail.

That fuel break proved its value on July 4th when a brush fire started near Slate Canyon. The work completed by our fuels crew helped slow the fire’s spread and prevented it from continuing farther up the hillside—reducing the potential for a much larger and more costly incident.

Wildfire mitigation is about preparing before the fire starts. We’re proud of the work our Seasonal Fuels Crew has accomplished this season and grateful to the residents, neighborhood groups, and community partners who continue to help make Provo more wildfire resilient. We also extend a special thank you to Provo Power and Provo Parks & Recreation for their collaboration and support of this program.

Mitigation today helps protect our community tomorrow.

Provo Fire & Rescue Emergency Manager Chris Blinzinger is currently serving as a Liaison Officer with the Northern Utah Interagency Type 3 Incident Management Team, supporting the Rocky Canyon Fire in Utah.

As a Liaison Officer, Chris works with “cooperators”—organizations and agencies impacted by the fire, including sheriff’s offices, emergency management, highway departments, utilities, power and gas companies, cattlemen’s associations, tribal nations, logging companies, communications infrastructure, watershed groups, and local communities.

Chris helps coordinate with these partners, share critical information, identify needs, and ensure resources are available to support the communities and personnel working on the fire.

We’re proud of Chris for representing Provo Fire & Rescue and serving communities across Utah when they need it most.
