A groundbreaking new report from Flushing Town Hall in partnership with the New York State Council for the Arts found transportation to be a key challenge in accessing arts and culture in the World’s Borough.

Speaking to over 150 artists, organizers and cultural leaders across Queens, The 2025 Queens Cultural Mapping Report details how isolation within the arts and cultural scene is primarily shaped by the borough’s sprawling geography and inadequate transportation infrastructure.

This physical disconnection has a tremendous impact on artists and cultural institutions, from challenges developing an audience to uneven resource distribution.

The borough NEEDS better transit and QueensLink is the first step in getting there. A new north-south rail connection would transform access for thousands of artists and organizations in South Queens and beyond!
