Will Sheff / Okkervil River has been one of our absolute favorites for years. New album (and new merch!) now available.

EXTRA MILE is out today! My new solo album is finally available in stores everywhere and streaming along on every streamer.

Where my last album was written when I didn’t know it was going to be Okkervil River or not, this one was a blank canvas. I could ask myself who “Will Sheff” wanted to be, and that question led on out into bigger questions, what does it mean to be anything, what does it mean to be a living breathing feeling being under the starry sky, no idea where you came from or where you’re going. This album has been waiting a long time to come out and it feels like the week of my 50th birthday is the best time for it to be born.

I feel so much gratitude for the people who helped me make this - Will Graefe with whom I wrote many of the songs and who plays such gorgeous guitar here, the great drummers Griffin Goldsmith & Ross Chait, my dear bass friend Benjamin Lazar Davis, keyboard magus Benny Bock, Jenn Wasner and AC Newman and Peter Silberman and Saundra Williams and Jack Ladder who ain’t with me, my 49-piece choir from the Patreon on the last track, Thor Harris & Cole Kamen-Green & Alec Spiegelman & Alan Good Parker @ Zac Rae & Sarah k Pedinotti & Christian Lee Hutson & Danny Reisch & Jared Samuel & Cully Symington who lend instrumental support. Eric Fuller at Arnwood Ranch who recorded and Dave Cerminara who mixed. Andrew Knopp who took the pictures, Daniel Murphy who laid em out, and my hardworking partner in this release Mr. Justin Becker. And even more characters who I am being limited from typing.
