Yarn

Yarn is an Americana, Alt-Country, Rock and Roll band founded in 2007 by Blake Christiana. Saturday Night Sermon is out NOW!!
You can find everything you need here: linktr.ee/yarnmusic Blake Christiana, founding member of Yarn, has the music in him. Since 2007 he’s led Yarn, a band that’s evolved from its earliest days as a bar band in New York City to an outstanding roots band that’s shared stages with Dwight Yoakam, Marty Stuart, Alison Krauss, and Leftover Salmon, among many others. Yarn got their start by playing a weekly residency at Kenny’s Castaways in Greenwich Village in 2007.
“We played there every Monday night for two years. I was writing like crazy, and we’d try out the songs. It was like rehearsing on stage; every night was different, and sometimes we played in front of five people and sometimes there’d be 100 people there.”
Over the years, musicians have rotated in and out of Yarn, but drummer Robert Bonhomme and bassist Rick Bugel, along with Christiana, have remained the core of the band. Our style could be called Soul Imagery, Groove and Story-based music. We fit into the Americana, Rock & Roll and Alt-Country genres, but we prefer Twang & Roll, H***y Rock, or Rock & Tonk. We've been compared to Sturgill Simpson, Van Morrison, Rolling Stones, Waylon Jennings, Dwight Yoakam, Drive by truckers and Widespread Panic.

The history runs deep with Yarn & Dangermuffin. We stayed at their house on Folly Beach while they were out on tour before we even met them face to face, and that was way back in 2008. I think our first real introduction was at The Surf Bar in Folly Beach that same year, many beers and a Dan Reeder singalong later, our love was cemented.
If there ever was a VH1 Behind The Music about Yarn it would most definitely include interviews and footage with all 3 of these fine fellas. Just these pictures alone tell a whole lot of stories. The Willow Tree Anniversary shows in Johnson City, after the doors close at Charleston Pour House, in a tent backstage at FloydFest, on stage at Rooster Walk, at a random diner off some highway while traveling to our own separate shows in opposite directions, backstage at Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, and on stage at The Gathering of The Vibes somewhere in CT. This is just a tiny sliver of the time we've spent together navigating the wild and wonderful life of touring. It's a gift to get to do this for a living and then to find folks like Mikey, Dan and Steven in the process is magic.
I tried to get Dangermuffin to our first and 2nd Yarnival's, but the timing just wasn't right. Year 6, the stars aligned. PLEASE COME JOIN THIS CELEBRATION OF LIFE, MUSIC, LOVE & FRIENDSHIP at Pop's Farm on October 8, 9, & 10.

This picture was taken at a place called Mo Daddy's in Asheville, NC in 2009 I believe. It was our first time meeting BIG DADDY LOVE. Brian Swenk sent me this photo this morning along with this nugget of a tale he tells quite often about this exact evening...
“We got a booking agent for the first time in our lives — Chris Cate— and one of the first things he did was tell us that we needed to go jam with the band Yarn in downtown asheville — so we did.
The booking agent is long gone, but little did we know we’d be best friends for life”
Also, on this same night, James Justin & Co. opened the show. It was also our first time meeting those boys.
Both BDL & JJ&Co are coming to Yarnival - Music & Alternative Arts Festival this year. One of the best things about hosting this festival is getting all our friends back together again in one place, fans more than included in this situation. Even if you've never been to a Yarnival or even a Yarn show, you will be treated like family, you will make friends, and you will most definitely be welcomed with big giant open arms. CAN Y'ALL LEAVE SOME COMMENTS IF YOU AGREE WITH THAT STATEMENT. Let's make some new friends and fans!!! Buy your tickets TODAY!!!

Our producer, brother from another mother, keys maestro extraordinaire, Damian Calcagne introduced me to a promoter in NJ a couple years ago and we've worked on a handful of shows together. Last night was yet another one of his successes, big thanks to all those who made it so. Craig is bringing super high quality music to small listening spaces all over New Jersey. He's curating it really well and it's working. It's very inspiring.
I just texted him and told him we need a million more like him placed about all over the world, bringing the joy and escape of original live music to small rooms everywhere. We also need more of the folks who open up there rooms to people like Craig, so a big thank you to the fine folks at Flounder Brewing as well.
Come see us tonight at Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival in Norwich, NY. Jamie McLean Band is also playing so come early! Our set starts at 4pm!!!
Only 2 more shows until Yarnival - Music & Alternative Arts Festival!!! For the love of the god please buy your tickets TODAY!

We got to celebrate our good buddy Jeff Prater's 100th show last night. Jeff has been taping our shows for 16 years. He's a badass. He's a librarian, an academic, he's hiked the entire Appalachian Trail and now he's even a college professor. He's living his dream and we love this so freaking much. Love you Jeff! Come to Yarnival - Music & Alternative Arts Festival and we'll celebrate y'all's wedding anniversary.
Also, that was our favorite DC show ever, a huge thank you to the entire crowd!
As for TONIGHT, only a few tickets left. Can we please sell it out?!!! This will be our last New Jersey show for quite a while, so don't snooze folks. Show starts around 7pm at Flounder in Hillsborough, NJ. COME ON!
And tomorrow our set starts at 4pm at Chenango Festival in Norwich, NY. Again, our last NY show for quite a while!
PLEASE BUY YOUR TICKETS IN ADVANCED. SUPPORT ORIGINAL LIVE MUSIC AND THE VENUES THAT GIVE THEM A STAGE. If you don't, we're coming for you!!! 🙏❤️

29 days until Yarnival - Music & Alternative Arts Festival and just one day before we're back in the van and headed to The Hamilton in Washington, DC and spreading Yarn's love because DAMNIT!!! This life is beautiful, even as ugly as it can be sometimes.
We stopped for an impromptu recording session at our buddy Bill's studio in Winston-Salem on our way back from Catoosa Fest. We just needed to create something from nothing again, it had been too damn long. Maybe we'll give you a little new musical gift in the next couple weeks.
But in the meantime, how about you give us a gift, and buy all your Yarnival and Yarn show tickets in advance. Today would be nice. If you do, maybe we'll give you some new music ASAP.

The band was feeling it last night. I'm in awe of the musicians that I get to play with night after night. When I really start to think about it, it blows my mind. Dan Hood even showed up and sat in for most of the show and traded licks with Scott Tournet like we were on a sold out stage at Madison Square Garden. The fans and the crowd were there for some music and in turn we were there to give it to them, as good as we possibly could. Thank you Charlotte for letting us do what we do.
Right now is it folks, later or next time are not guaranteed. GET OUT AND LIVE. Live music is one of those gifts this strange and mysterious place called Earth has given us, you should check it out. AND COME TO YARNIVAL DAMNIT!
See y'all tonight at Catoosa Fest with our friends The Black Lillies and more, our set starts at 7pm sharp!
