🐬🚨 **PETITION ALERT: 9 DOLPHINS REMAIN TRAPPED AT A CLOSED WATER PARK — HELP GET THEM TO SANCTUARY** 🚨🐬

The tourists are gone.

The water park is closed.

But **nine dolphins are still there.**

According to the petition, nine dolphins remain confined at a closed water park in Cancún, Mexico, months after it shut its doors. Some are elderly, several are reportedly blind, and at least one is battling advanced cancer.

Their names are:

🐬 Squalo — 38
🐬 Oceania — 36
🐬 Mincho — 36
🐬 Satu — 31
🐬 Solei — 28
🐬 Solomon — 21
🐬 Diego — 19
🐬 Flex — 18
🐬 Apolo — 13

These aren't numbers.

**They are nine individual animals who deserve care, dignity, and a future.**

The petition reports that footage has shown concerning behaviors, including dolphins gnawing at the concrete enclosure and floating listlessly for extended periods. Mexico's environmental authorities previously intervened over welfare concerns, yet the dolphins remain at the facility.

Now people around the world are asking Mexican authorities to take the next step.

✍️ **SIGN THE PETITION urging PROFEPA, Mexico's federal environmental protection agency, to relocate these nine dolphins to a legitimate sanctuary rather than another commercial dolphinarium—and to provide transparency and independent welfare checks until they are moved.**

The petition already has **more than 31,000 signatures** and is approaching its **35,000-signature goal.**

Let's help push it closer. 🐬💙

These dolphins have already spent decades in captivity.

**They should not spend whatever time they have left performing for people or forgotten behind the walls of a closed attraction.**

Sign Petition: Trump Administration Quietly Gutted the Endangered Species Act's Core Protection. Now, Vulnerable Animals Are Going to Die. 09/23/2026

🚨🦅 PETITION ALERT: PROTECTIONS FOR ENDANGERED ANIMALS COULD BE DRAMATICALLY NARROWED 🐺🚨

For more than 50 years, the **Endangered Species Act (ESA)** has been one of America's most important tools for preventing species from disappearing forever.

Now, a new U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service directive could significantly change how one of the law's core protections is enforced.

Under the new interpretation, an unauthorized **"take"** of a protected animal would generally require an intentional act directed at that animal. That could mean an endangered animal killed or injured incidentally during activities such as development, logging, or other projects would no longer be treated the same way under this provision of the ESA.

Why does that matter?

🦅 Endangered animals aren't threatened only by people deliberately trying to kill them.

🐋 A protected whale can be struck during maritime activity.

🦇 Animals can be killed when occupied habitat is disturbed.

🐾 Development and other human activities can unintentionally injure or kill protected wildlife.

For decades, the ESA has required consideration of certain **incidental harm**, including through a permitting system designed to reduce impacts on protected species.

The administration maintains that its newer interpretation better reflects the language and original intent of the law. Conservation organizations and legal experts strongly dispute that position and warn that narrowing these protections could leave endangered wildlife more vulnerable.

Whatever your politics, endangered animals cannot advocate for themselves.

**If you believe incidental killing and injury of endangered animals should remain protected under federal law, this is your opportunity to speak up.**

✍️ **SIGN THE PETITION:**

The petition asks Interior Secretary **Doug Burgum** and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director **Brian Nesvik** to withdraw the directive and asks Congress to preserve protections against incidental killing and injury.

🐾 In Memory of Mango — One Cat’s Life Helping Many Others ❤️

We recently received a $100 donation to Unity Animal Sanctuary in memory of a very special cat named Mango.

Mango lived in Iceland and became a beloved part of a local hotel, where he spent his days greeting guests, relaxing in his special chair, and making friends with people from around the world.

Sadly, Mango was recently hit by a car and killed.

Bob and Mary chose to turn their heartbreak into something positive by making a donation in Mango’s memory so that other cats could be helped.

And Mango is already making a difference. ❤️

A large portion of their $100 donation has already been used to help provide food for the 100+ feral cats we are currently helping in New Jersey.

The remainder will be used to help other cats in need, including 20 cats we are helping in New York, as well as cats we continue to help here in Pennsylvania.

One cat in Iceland is now helping cats hundreds and thousands of miles away.

That's a pretty incredible legacy. 🐱❤️

Thank you, Bob and Mary, for trusting Unity Animal Sanctuary to help honor Mango's memory. We are honored to make sure his legacy helps other cats who need it.

Below is the message Bob and Mary sent us. I wanted to share it in their own words:

“My wife Mary is a flight attendant and I’m a pilot. We both love Iceland. Mary tries to go there as often as possible and we’re both animal lovers. We have three cats ourselves (two of which are special needs) and we love to help the animals. Over the last couple of years Mary became good friends with a local hotel cat, Mango. He was most beloved by guests and hotel staff alike. He technically was owned by people in a house down the street, and his daily routine was to walk down to the hotel every morning, spend the day lounging in the lobby (he had a special chair, as you’ll see) and greeting guests. He became so popular that people came just to visit him. He was very well cared for and formed an especially close bond with my wife. She would bring treats with her that he adored, but mostly he just wanted her to pet him at great length. She looked forward to seeing him more than I could even tell you, and when I’d talk to her after a trip the first thing I’d always ask was “Did you see Mango?” He was so fond of her he’d come when she called his name. It wasn’t entirely unheard of for Mary to not see Mango on a trip but it was uncommon. Last week when she checked in Mango was nowhere to be seen, and she didn’t see him the next day either. When she checked out she asked the receptionist if she’d seen Mango, and the woman almost broke down in tears relating that Mango had been hit by a car and killed. Mary was devastated and misses her special boy more than you can imagine. There have been many tears for him, but I wanted to do something else to help other cats that if Mango could understand he’d be happy about, so I donated money to Unity as a start. We appreciate your devotion to the animals, and am sure Mango would approve. Below are photos of Mango. The top three were taken by Mary of him in his chair in the hotel lobby, but since they didn’t show his beautiful face, I did a quick search and he had many photos and posts about him, most on travel sites. The bottom two were found online and show him in front of the hotel. RIP Our beautiful Icelandic boy! You’re more loved than you will ever know. Bob and Mary”

Rest in peace, Mango. 🌈🐾

Your life mattered. You were loved. And now, in your memory, other cats will have food in their bellies and people looking out for them.

From Iceland to New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania—Mango's impact continues. ❤️

Sadly, Mango is gone—but his story didn’t end there. 🌈🐾

In his memory, a generous $100 donation was made to Unity Animal Sanctuary, and Mango is now helping cats thousands of miles away. His legacy is already helping provide food for feral cats in New Jersey, with more of the donation going toward helping cats in New York and Pennsylvania.

This was September 6 after our cleanup at Terry Reiley Memorial Park, where we removed more than 300 pieces of trash.

Afterward, I spent a little time by the river just enjoying the sound of the water.

Moments like this are a reminder of why we do these cleanups. Every piece of trash removed is one less piece that can harm wildlife or end up in waterways like this one.

Turn up the volume, forget everything else for a moment, and just listen. ❤️🌎
