Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity is reminding farmers and first responders to submit their Liquid Fuels Tax applications by Sept. 30 for eligible purchases of unleaded gasoline and on-road, clear diesel used for machinery and vehicle operations.
Treasury’s Board of Finance and Revenue (BF&R) sent applications to eligible organizations – including farming operations, volunteer fire companies, ambulance providers and rescue squads incorporated as nonprofits.
Electronic applications and supporting documents, which are preferred, must be received by Sept. 30, and mailed applications and documents must be postmarked by that date.
To request a form or to file electronically, claimants can send completed forms and required documents to [email protected]. Forms can also be uploaded directly on Treasury’s website, patreasury.gov/bfr. Treasury’s BF&R can also be reached by calling 717-787-6534.

I recently joined 84 fellow House colleagues in outlining significant concerns about the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s (DOH) proposed governance on communicable and noncommunicable diseases.
If enacted, the 502-page document would establish unprecedented bureaucratic control and threaten each Pennsylvanian’s constitutional liberties, medical privacy and parental rights. Protecting public health and keeping our communities safe is something we must take seriously. However, it should never come at the expense of our fundamental rights and freedoms.

Leveraging funds provided through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and PA Dairymen’s Association, the grant program is now open with limited grants available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Farmers must complete an application and submit the required $100 application fee to participate in each program. Visit www.centerfordairyexcellence.org/grants to learn more and apply online.

September is National Preparedness Month, and this year’s theme, “Americans Stand Ready,” highlights preparedness as a civic responsibility and patriotic duty.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Ready Campaign offers these simple, affordable steps to help you stand ready:
• Be in the know. Make sure you know where to get information when you need it most. Sign up for your community’s warning system and download the FEMA App to get emergency safety alerts and resources.
• Make a plan to keep you and your family, including pets, safe and prepared. The plan should include emergency contact information, emergency meeting places and medical information.
• Build a kit with the essential items your family needs to stay safe and comfortable if something happens.
• Be there for your community. From volunteering in your community to learning skills like first aid and CPR, you can take steps to prepare for disasters and keep your family safe and make your neighborhood and community more resilient.

I'm proud to announce that Senator Gebhard and I were able to secure more than $50,000 in Local Share Account (LSA) grants for North Heidelberg Township.
The following project received funding from the state:
• North Heidelberg Township- $57,924 to purchase a new skid. The equipment will replace a 50 year old grader that is limited to basic grading and too large for routine tasks. The skid loader will allow the township to complete a wide range of maintenance activities with one machine, including removing trees and storm debris, picking up brushes, cleaning gutters and ditches, installing pipes and plowing snow.
Local Share Account grants are funded through gaming revenues and are used to support economic development, community improvement and other projects that enhance quality of life for Pennsylvania residents.
