People-pleasing is often praised as being "kind", "helpful" or "selfless". But when saying yes to everyone else means constantly saying no to yourself, it becomes a cycle that is hard to escape.

Many people spend years apologising when they have done nothing wrong, avoiding conflict at all costs, and putting everyone else's needs first. Over time, that can lead to stress, resentment, burnout and losing sight of who they really are. People-pleasing is often driven by fear of rejection or conflict rather than genuine kindness.

If this speaks to you, or reminds you of someone you care about, share it. You never know who needs the reminder that their needs matter too.

Many people collect things. Others save items because they hold memories or might be useful someday.

But when clutter begins to impact daily life, relationships, safety, or well-being, it may be a sign of Hoarding Disorder.

Join ADAA Member Expert Fugen Neziroglu, PhD, ABPP, ABBP, for a free live webinar exploring the difference between collecting and hoarding, why hoarding behaviors develop, and what effective treatment looks like.

Important for this weekend and maybe every weekend this summer:

As we approach the Fourth of July, it's crucial to acknowledge how the celebrations can trigger trauma responses, particularly due to the loud fireworks displays. For many trauma survivors, these festive sounds can activate symptoms of PTS, leading to anxiety, panic attacks, and other emotional distress.

To help navigate these challenges, check out our resource "Coping with Emotional Distress from Fireworks & Loud Sounds: Tips for Trauma Survivors and Those Sensitive to Loud Noises." This resource offers valuable strategies for managing distress and fostering empathy and support within our communities. 🌟

By understanding and addressing the unique needs of those affected by trauma, we can create a more supportive and inclusive environment. Engage with our resources, participate in our Peer Support groups, and spread awareness about PTS. Together, we can make a meaningful impact. ❀️
