Bluegrass, Old Time, Old-Fashion Acoustic Music; The Old Kennett String Band members love what we do, and we love to put smiles on people's faces!

The Old Kennett String Band is a four-piece acoustic group that sings in four-part harmony backed by banjo, guitar, fiddle, mandolin and bass. They primarily play Bluegrass, Old Time, and Gospel, with a few surprises thrown in to create an upbeat and entertaining performance. All four members, Carolyn “Cootie” Faubel, Amy “AmyLou” Vogt, Tim “Mando-Man” Garrison and George “Doc” Fredson are genetically predisposed musicians who are steeped in a rich family heritage of singing and playing music, and those family traditions are evident in their performances today. In an earlier life it is suspected that they all played together in the bars and hotels of Kennett, California and were one of the most popular and sought-after bands in their day. They entertained the gold seekers, traders, trappers, loggers, and the fine ladies of the town of Kennett, in the Diamond Bar until the town was covered by what is now Shasta Lake. Today, in times of drought, folks might almost think they can make out the ghostly remnants of the Diamond Bar and Casino in Old Kennett under shallow waters and hear the music of old times gone by.
