Diastasis recti is more than the distance between the abdominal muscles. Effective assessment looks at how the abdominal wall manages pressure, transfers force, and functions under load.
At Innova, we focus on restoring coordination, strength, and function—not simply “closing the gap.”

Strength training isn’t just about how much weight you lift. How you move matters. 💪
A strong setup, effective bracing, good bar positioning, and controlled movement can make your lifts more efficient and sustainable.
If your form starts to change as the weight increases or fatigue sets in, it may be time to adjust the load. Quality movement builds strength that lasts.

Your MRI is important—but it’s only one piece of the clinical picture.
Imaging can show us structure: a disc bulge, tendon tear, cartilage change, degeneration, or other tissue findings. What it can’t show us is how well your body actually moves, stabilizes, coordinates, and tolerates load.
And that distinction matters.
Research has repeatedly shown that structural findings can exist in people with no pain at all, while someone experiencing significant pain or functional limitations may have relatively unremarkable imaging.
That’s why physical therapy looks beyond the MRI.
A comprehensive evaluation considers your symptoms, history, strength, mobility, joint stability, motor control, movement patterns, functional limitations, and response to movement—then uses that information alongside imaging to guide treatment.
We don’t treat an MRI report. We treat the person in front of us.
At Innova Physical Therapy, our goal is to help you understand what may be contributing to your symptoms and build the strength, stability, movement capacity, and confidence needed to get back to what matters to you.

When it comes to hypermobility, more strength isn’t always the first step—more stability is.
Joint stability depends on three systems working together: your connective tissues, your muscles, and your nervous system. In people with hypermobility, the passive support from ligaments and connective tissue is often reduced, meaning the muscles and nervous system must work harder to keep joints centered and controlled during movement.
That’s why simply lifting heavier or doing more repetitions isn’t always the answer. Without adequate stability, your body may compensate with inefficient movement patterns, muscle guarding, or excessive stress on your joints.
At Innova Physical Therapy, we focus on building active stability first—improving neuromuscular control, proprioception, and movement quality before progressively increasing strength and load. This approach helps create more efficient movement, better performance, and long-term joint health.
Control first. Strength second. Resilience for life.

Pain relief is often what brings people to physical therapy—but it’s not where the journey ends.
Our goal isn’t just to help you hurt less. It’s to help you move with confidence, rebuild strength, and return to the activities that make life meaningful. Whether that’s lifting in the gym, chasing your kids, hiking your favorite trail, gardening, or simply getting through the workday more comfortably, your goals become our goals.
At Innova Physical Therapy, every treatment plan is personalized because no two people—or their goals—are the same. We look beyond the site of pain to understand how your body moves, identify what’s contributing to your symptoms, and help you build lasting resilience.
Because success isn’t measured only by less pain—it’s measured by getting back to doing what you love.
If you’re ready to move beyond pain and get back to life, we’d love to help.

Mobility and flexibility are often used interchangeably—but they’re not the same thing.
Flexibility is about how much your muscles can lengthen. Mobility is your ability to actively move your joints through their available range with strength, stability, and control.
That’s why simply stretching more isn’t always the solution. If the underlying issue is weakness, poor motor control, or joint stiffness, a different approach may be more effective.
At Innova Physical Therapy, we evaluate the whole movement system to understand what’s contributing to your symptoms and create a personalized treatment plan that helps you move with greater confidence.
Move better—not just farther.

Pelvic pain is common—but that doesn’t mean it’s normal.
Millions of women experience pelvic pain, yet many are told it’s simply something they have to accept. The reality is that pain is a signal that something deserves attention.
Whether your symptoms began after pregnancy, during exercise, with intimacy, or seemingly out of nowhere, physical therapy may help identify contributing factors and improve function.
At Innova Physical Therapy, our women’s health specialists provide one-on-one, individualized care designed around your unique needs and goals.
If pelvic pain is affecting your daily life, know that you’re not alone—and you don’t have to navigate it by yourself.
