Tomorrow is Pink Ribbon Row! If you are not competing, we hope you will still join us on this nice sunny day to lend support to our rowers either by cheering from the Montlake Cut or perhaps carrying some oars for our crews.

Spectators can enjoy the action happening down the new race course through the Montlake Cut and can watch near the bridge or by the UW Shellhouse. Bring your lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy the pink celebration! Racing begins at 7:30am. đź’ž

On Fridays, our Junior Boys Squad has race days where they enjoy some competition between various 4+’s and 8+s over a distance of 4,000 meters. Winners are awarded the distinctive SRA propeller trophy until the next week's victors.

This photo of the victorious 8+ was shared with us by Coach Liza last Friday. It was the first of many Race Day Fridays for the Junior Boys Squad!

A little Throwback Thursday for your feed of a few of last year's fall regattas. Our first one is coming up this Sunday, September 20th. Pink Ribbon Row will kick off our fall racing season and we can't wait for the memories made and medals won this year! 🏅

Our dock sees a lot of traffic and that means our parking lot does too! We are fortunate to have so many robust programs and squads, but that means that during certain times of day or days of the week, our parking lot can get a bit packed!

Luckily, we have a pretty dialed in parking system. For any and all parking procedures and questions, your best resource is our Parking Page on the website: https://www.sammamishrowing.org/parking--boathouse.html

Developing capable, thoughtful, and determined young adults is what we do best at SRA. Our coaches focus on more than rowing technique— they teach our student-athletes important life skills that they keep with them way beyond their time in our boat bays. From leadership, teamwork, time-management, and so much more— we take pride in our juniors, the hard work they put in every day, and the people they become.

Registration is still open for our November Try-Rowing. Try-Rowing is a program dedicated to giving youths a chance to try out sport and see if it is the right fit for them (we have a feeling they'll love it). Learn more and register for November Try-Rowing here: https://www.sammamishrowing.org/new-rowers-fall.html

Do you know a junior who would be a wonderful addition to the next generation of SRA rowers? Send them this post or tag them in the comments! SRA welcomes all đź’™

📣SRA is hiring for a part time position! We are looking for assistant coaches to jump right in with our masters squads. Specifically, 5am Masters Squad hopes you'll consider helping them develop as athletes and teammates. Our 5am Masters are such a fun group to work with. What unites the group is the competitive drive, the willingness to invest the time needed to perform at a high level, and the ability to work together for our common goals. It doesn't hurt that you'll be witness to gorgeous sunrises, diverse wildlife, and ample parking at that hour!

Okay, this is insane... Our SRA community has raised over $20,000 for Pink Ribbon Row! That is over $5,000 beyond our $15,000 goal! We truly cannot state how grateful we are for the outpouring of love and support that our community brings to this fundraiser every year. Your generosity helps provide support for early detection and screening as well as support after a breast cancer diagnosis. đź’ž

Thank you for stepping up and helping support people navigating the battle of their lifetime.

Pink Ribbon Row is 10 days away and you can come show your support by cheering on the athletes, volunteering, or making a donation. Learn more here: https://www.pinkribbonrow.org/

We've got big news....

SRA has a new Junior Girls Head Coach! Please join us in congratulating Anita Sarrett on her new role as Junior Girls Head Coach and as our new Director of Membership. Anita brings more than two decades of experience as a coxswain and coach, spanning junior, collegiate, and masters rowing at UC Berkeley, Marin Rowing, Oakland Strokes, Holy Names Academy and SRA.

As a junior coach, Anita has coached athletes to multiple USRowing Youth National Championship gold medals and has a strong record of top-5 finishes. Last year at SRA, Anita served as the coxswain coach, working with athletes across the program, and coached with the girls’ team at Youth Nationals.

Anita is passionate about creating a positive, competitive environment where athletes feel supported, challenged, and proud to be part of the team. Her goal is to help athletes become stronger competitors, great teammates, and confident young people. We are looking forward to an incredible season with her and could not be more excited to have her in these new roles.

Congratulations Anita! 🎉🎉🎉

What started out as a way for his family to enjoy a fun summer activity together turned into a life changing opportunity for SRA Junior Program alum, Hans Struzyna. It started in 2004 when Struzyna’s family struggled together in the slough in some Alden singles as they discovered the sport of rowing as a family with a few casual private lessons. Casually, a coach mentioned that SRA had a junior team. That inspired Struzyna, as well as his younger sister Allie, to join a 3 week summer session where he was able to take part in the Greenlake Summer Extravaganza. All it took was a 1k trip down the course and he was hooked. That casual summer regatta started him on a path that would shape his future in an incredibly profound way.
