STAFF SUNDAY | Meet Our Weather Ma’am — Teresa Drury

Every race needs someone keeping an eye on the sky, and this year Teresa stepped up as our very own Weather Ma’am.

A fun play on the longtime off-road racing tradition of the Weather Man, Teresa took on the role in her very first year and has done an excellent job. We truly appreciate her willingness to step up, take on something new, and help keep everything moving for VORRA.
Not only does Teresa handle the radio@on race weekends, but along with her partner in crime, Broc Ross, they both show up a week early to help mark race course and give a hand wherever is needed.

FEATURE FRIDAY — #1955 & #1555 David Coonrod. Racing in the sportsman class at the Monster Dash!

From Northern California to the Nevada desert, this team has spent the last 7 years racing everything from SXS all the way to Class 1 cars.

But Davids off-road racing story didn’t start behind the wheel.

It started in the pits, helping his brother Brian Powell race.

And maybe that’s why some of his favorite VORRA memories aren’t about a specific race, finish, or trophy.

“My favorite memories are how the crews and pits come together to help each other — from helping pit, to prepping and fixing cars so everyone can make the race.”

That right there is what off-road racing is all about.

We compete hard when the green flag drops, but when somebody needs a hand, the VORRA family steps up.

For #1955 and #1555, racing is made possible by the love and support of friends and family, along with the promoters and volunteers who help make every VORRA race happen.

And there’s another side to racing that means just as much.

Away from the track, he describes himself as more of a solitary person. But at a VORRA race, surrounded by people who share the same passion, that changes.

“There’s something about being around other like-minded people at the race that lets me open up. I love to be helpful in any way I can while at the race, and I’ve met some awesome people.”

That may be one of the best descriptions of the VORRA community we’ve heard.

Different cars.
Different classes.
Different backgrounds.

But when race weekend comes around, we’re one off-road family.
