Urban Roots
Urban Roots strives to improve the way communities eat and learn through garden-based education.
🌼Join us this Saturday for a Dead Plant Society workshop alongside The Radish Hotel where we’ll be making salves and balms with what we harvested this fall. You might say this workshop is the balm dot calm.

Jaime and El Sativo Tequila have been part of the Urban Roots family for years, giving their time, talent, and generosity to help our farm grow. Anyone who's been to one of our events knows her work: delicious cocktails paired thoughtfully with the food, and her signature ice blossom garnishes. Whether she's crafting a cocktail using our elderberry syrup or fresh farm peaches, we are so thankful for every creative idea she dreams into existence.
We're thrilled to share that Jaime is joining us again for Seedkeeper's Table on Saturday, October 10, where she'll be serving El Sativo cocktails paired with each course of the evening.
Jaime, thank you for your generosity, your creativity, and for believing in what we do. We're lucky to have you in our corner.
Come raise a glass with us at Seedkeeper's Table. Tickets are available at the link in bio.

🧑‍🍳School’s out. Aprons on. We’re about to cook up some magic!
Urban Roots Fall Camp returns October 5–9, alongside Washoe County School District’s fall break. Campers will harvest ingredients straight from the farm, then head to the kitchen to turn their haul into something delicious. It’s a full week of cooking, creating and trying something new.
Ages 5–15 welcome. Registration is available at the link in our bio!

Take your seat at Seedkeeper’s Table!🌱
On October 10th, 55 guests will gather on the farm for a night of food, cocktails, w**e, music and conversation. The evening will highlight Urban Roots and the role of garden education in northern Nevada.
We’re inviting community members who want to play a part in making Urban Roots’ long-term impact possible.
Our guests will experience a magical evening thanks to our sponsors and friends Tommy Linnet of Liberty Food & W**e Exchange, Jaime Whitton of El Sativo Tequila, the Tahoe Philharmonic, Archive W**e + B**r, and title sponsor Farm Bureau Bank!
Tickets are available at the link in our bio.

Wow, farm-ily. You truly are a cut above the rest.
The tools we lost have been quickly replaced thanks to some incredibly generous members of our community.
Our tool box is full, our garden beds can keep getting built and our hearts are pretty full, too. Thank you for showing up for Urban Roots!

🪚Not to cut right to the bad news, but…
Our miter saw and sawzall were stolen. We use them often to build gardens through Gardening for All, make updates around the farm and more.
If you have one you’d be willing to donate, we’d be saw grateful!
🌱Good news! We’re giving you a little more thyme to apply for Gardening for All! Applications have been extended through this Wednesday, September 16.

Got a little space? Let’s grow something in it!
Gardening for All is a year-long program for beginner gardeners that takes you from “where do I start?” to growing at home. We’ll help design and build your garden, bring the soil, seeds, seedlings, irrigation and more. Plus, we’ll check in throughout the seasons.
Tomorrow is the LAST day to register! Applications are on our website at urbanrootsnv.org.

🍅It’s Labor Day and we have a feeling a few of these veggies might be hitting the grill this afternoon.
And we hope our team, volunteers, partners and community are doing a little less laboring today, too. It takes a lot of hard work to make this community grow, and we’re grateful for every bit of it.
Labor Day brings that unofficial shift in the season. Summer starts slowing down, giving us a good reason to do the same. And maybe that’s what makes this time of year so special. We get to look around and see not only what the season produced, but everything that went into it.
So today, as one season begins to give way to another, we’re appreciating not just what we’ve grown, but everyone who helped us grow it.

🧺We hate to put all our eggs in one basket… so we need a few more!
We’re looking for baskets of all shapes and sizes. We use them to share farm-fresh goodies to our donors and partners, fill with raffle prizes and plenty more.
Have some extras hanging around? We’d be berry grateful to take them off your hands.
