Get Rattled - Rattlesnake Avoidance Training for Dogs.
Get Rattled is a small family owned business! We travel throughout the western states over the spring/summer to provide rattlesnake avoidance training for dogs
We use live rattlesnakes in training to get the maximum effectiveness and follow strict safety guidelines at all times. We also work with non-profit organizations to schedule avoidance training in the community and share a portion of the proceeds.
π¦ COOLER WEATHER DOESN'T MEAN THE WILDLIFE DANGER IS OVER!
As temperatures begin to drop, most dog owners start thinking a little less about rattlesnakes.
But there's another wildlife encounter you should be thinking about: PORCUPINES!
Porcupines don't hibernate. They remain active throughout the winter, and while they're primarily nocturnal, they can also be out and foraging during daylight hours, creating opportunities for an unfortunate face-to-face encounter with a curious dog.
And unlike a rattlesnake, a porcupine doesn't need to bite your dog to send you racing to the veterinarian!
π¦ That's why Get Rattled / Get Quilled is still offering PRIVATE PORCUPINE AVOIDANCE TRAINING throughout Nevada.
Using the same tried-and-true training principles we've used for decades in our rattlesnake avoidance program, we use live porcupines to teach dogs to recognize and avoid them through:
π Sight
π Smell
π¦ Movement
The goal is simple: teach your dog that a porcupine is something to recognize, respect and AVOID - before they ever have to learn that lesson the hard way.
And fall is a GREAT time to do it.
We're currently scheduling private Porcupine Avoidance sessions in Nevada, but our remaining training dates are limited as we move toward the end of our travel season.
Sorry, California friends, we aren't able to bring Porcupine Avoidance Training to you just yet... but we're working on it!
However, you are welcome to come visit us in Nevada to get your dog trained!
If you've been wanting to get your dog trained, send us a message and let's see if we can get you on the schedule.
π¦ Because the best porcupine encounter is the one your dog decides to walk away from.
π WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO TRAIN YOUR DOG FOR RATTLESNAKE AVOIDANCE?
Whenever you can!
Every spring, as the weather warms up and rattlesnakes become active again, rattlesnake avoidance suddenly jumps to the top of everyone's mind.
And every spring, we hear from more dog owners than we can accommodate.
Our group classes fill quickly, our private-training schedule gets packed, and unfortunately, we simply can't be everywhere at once.
But here's something important to remember:
Rattlesnake avoidance training isn't designed to last for a season... it's designed to last for a lifetime!
That means training your dog in the fall can be every bit as valuable as training in the spring. In fact, fall can be a GREAT time to get that initial training done.
Your dog learns the lesson now, and then a follow-up session in the spring, as snakes are becoming active again, can reinforce that lesson and help set your dog up for the best chance of long-term success.
π‘ And right now, we're still offering private rattlesnake avoidance training!
We come to you and work with your dog right on your property, using live rattlesnakes and real-world training scenarios.
As our 2026 season begins winding down, we're filling the remaining private-training dates on our schedule. If you've been thinking about getting your dog trained, or you've been trying to coordinate a private session with us, now is a great time to get it done.
Don't wait until spring when everyone else starts thinking about rattlesnakes again.
π Train now. Reinforce in the spring. Be ready when the snakes are.
Message us for information about scheduling a private training session.

Good morning everyone
Please bear with us here!
Tim lost his house, potentially his two cats and his livelihood in the Hawk Fire which tore through Reno
We aren't asking much, just a boost to help him out with unexpectedly having to start completely over.
He is one of the most genuine people you could have the pleasure of knowing.
We have had so many share their amazing stories and gratitude with us for providing avoidance training, if you can - please help us help out a good, long-time friend in return.
He deserves the hand up to get back on his feet.
Thanks for reading and stay safe out there! π«Ά

We have been getting some feedback about a recent AI article going around about how relocation doesn't work.
Feel free to reach out to us with questions, we are happy to talk about our methods and share knowledge but if you come at us with an AI generated article and aren't open to discussion we will shut the convo down since people are apparently set on false information being absolute fact.
Bryan Hughes of Rattlesnake Solutions recently went in depth with relocations, the complications behind them, and what we can do to make sure we are successful as much as possible.
We are constantly learning, improving and will always do everything we can to give dogs AND our native wildlife the best chance of survival, an AI article and opinions based on it isn't going to change that.
Please check out his presentation and consider real world experience/knowledge vs. AI crap.

We weren't sure what to expect, but this went well and we're glad we opted to attend.
We were joined by Erick and Erin of Natural Solutions Rattlesnake Aversion Training, Jake Molieri of Snakeout and Joel Almquist from Snakeworx Avoidance.
Looking forward to collaborating with them and California Department of Fish and Wildlife to create reasonable regulation for our growing industry within the state of California.
We'll keep you all updated as things progress over the coming months.

UPDATE: Proposed California Permit Requirements for Rattlesnake Exhibition & Dog Avoidance Training
We have received the proposed draft regulations that will be presented at the California Fish and Game Commission meeting tomorrow morning, Thursday, August 13, 2026, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The meeting can be viewed online, and there are also opportunities to participate and provide public comment remotely via Zoom or phone.
We are still reviewing the 83-page proposal and identifying areas of concern, particularly provisions that could directly affect our ability to continue offering rattlesnake avoidance training in California.
As currently written, these proposed regulations would have an impact on Get Rattled's operations and presence in California.
We have a number of concerns and questions regarding the proposal. However, this is still early in the regulatory process, and we are hopeful that by participating in the discussion, we can address those concerns, provide some real-world perspective from those actually conducting this type of training, and hopefully reach reasonable compromises that protect both California's wildlife and the public's ability to access effective rattlesnake avoidance training.
If you'd like to review the full 83-page proposal yourself, we'll provide a link in the comments.
We will keep everyone updated as this process moves forward.
