Her years being dedicated to remaining substance and alcohol free allow her to help guide these men into richer and more fulfilling lives.

Heather states “I thought I was giving something up. Instead, recovery helped me become the person I was searching for all along”, which fuels her ability to help others

Harold states, “Twelve years ago today, I was arrested off a city bus. I was addicted to he**in, hopeless, homeless, and had tons of shame. Twelve years later, I’m proud of the man I am today! I am a sober and present father, and I am blessed to work in the organization that helped me to change my life, Step 1, Inc. I help lead lost men to a new way of living - Recovery!
I am so grateful for today, for my recovery and for my family. Thank you so much for an amazing life. Thank you, Step 1!"

The Passing of the Gavel: Welcome to Step 1’s New Board Chair, Lanini !

Step 1 has been honored to have Chip Cooper serve as our board chair from July 2023 through June 2026. His prior experience as a board member since 2019 and his great impact in the recovery community has been a driving force in his commitment to serve Step 1's needs. Chip went above and beyond in his dedication and leadership during his time as chair and he now passes the gavel to Jena Lanini. After serving for two years as an excellent board member, Jena Lanini is ready to step into her new role as Step 1's board chair.

Jena’s leadership experience as a top-rated real estate agent along with her work in the recovery community makes her a perfect fit for the job! Congratulations, Jena! And thank you, Chip, we are pleased to have you remain on the board as our Past Chair!
